About this deal

In August 2019, Viz Media licensed the series for North American distribution in English under their SuBLime imprint. [10] No. BL has a less than savory relation to rape as a whole, often proposing it as romantic and on many an occasion dancing around the very term. Caste Heaven, at least to some extent, breaks the mold in that respect. Karino uses the actual word [犯す] which is very much rape. Things go terribly, terribly wrong for him when he misjudges one his followers: instead of bringing him the king card, Karino ends up handing him the lowest card, the joker while keeping the king for himself. That and raping him. What follows is Azusa's fall from grace as everyone he ever mistreated when he was on top gunning for him. The 'joker' is also 'the target', a position that is dreaded by all. Natalie (in Japanese). May 17, 2019. Archived from the original on June 9, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020.

I'm also intrigued by Karino, in a way. He's a shitty person, but he has a lot of power at home, has a brother who is interesting and will get his own story later, and I get the sense that he is genuinely obsessed with Azusa and used this year's Caste game as a way to get what he's always wanted. Natalie (in Japanese). April 7, 2015. Archived from the original on April 11, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. It is rape, any way you look at it. Orgasming does not equal consent, and that’s a dangerous idea to perpetuate. he never wavers, he stands up and refuses to become a target, defying everyone and everything in his path, he never tries to make others pity him and as a character, he is so enjoyable, Karino on the other hand is a sadist, problematic to say the least, full of complexes and flawed to again say the least. But for some reason he is attracted to Azusa (in his own twisted way) while Azusa serves him to get perks of not being everyon's bitch and wovs to get revenge. Karino grabs him by the hair and asks “Are you ignoring me or what? Don’t you understand unless I tell you?”. Azusa: “If you wanna do it so badly then go ask Eno!! After all, you’re well-matched.”. Karino surprised “Hah? What’s that dude got to do with it?”. Azusa replies “If you get hit by maggots, you’re gonna rot, you know. I’m saying that maggots always end up mating together……like at the cultural festival”. Karino doesn’t understand and says “Are you still thinking about that cultural festival stuff? Something worthless”. Azusa lowers his head. “I knew it. It’s just a way to kill time for you. I shouldn’t have believed in you from the start.”in the top 10. I couldn't find a reason. Yes, towards the end, there is humor and the characters fit each other in their own weird way...But still, that's no excuse to ignore RAPE! You might be asking why is it not that good then? Well, here's a thing, lemme get first one out of the way, mangaka is lazy asf and doesn's upload for months almost year, annoying. Second the way story is going now, Azusa is falling for Karino, which me being a hopeless romantic love, but I think it's really bad, considering his character and overall story. It had potential to say the least, but right now it's dissapointing. Caste Heaven Vol. 4". SuBLime. Archived from the original on April 11, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. Ressler, Karen (May 18, 2016). "Japanese Comic Ranking, May 9–15". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on June 19, 2016 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. So given the fact that is Yaoi, that it is fiction and that it is a Japanese god damn comic that will never happen in real life and it does not have to make sense because we are here to see guys having sex with each other, I give it a 9 because it does have a good plot with interesting characters that will make you connect with the story.

This asked some very deep questions, such as 'without my power, am I really this useless, this powerless?' This leads into my next point- why this reminded me of both the Stanford prison experiment and the Milgram experiment. so... I don't even know where to start with this atrocity. it takes place in a really messed up high school that allows rape and bulling. the students are all brain washed into thinking this is ok as well. Before you bash me, yes, I read the whole thing that was published until now to see what the deal was, why it was I was super nervous about reading this series. I put it off for a LONG time, because - although the premise sounded super-cool and intriguing - I just knew it would be non-con. The blurb sets you up for that, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to dive into another yaoi that uses the (and there's really no other way to put this) convenient plot-twist of rape to get a couple together. The Stanford prison experiment was a psychology experiment conducted in Stanford by Phillip Zimbardo in 1971, over the course of about a week. It used volunteers to act as inmates and guards in a 'prison', giving the 'guards' ultimate authority over the 'inmates' and subjecting them to extreme psychological torture. See, what happened was that even though the guards were not allowed to physically harm the inmates, they forced them to be stripped of their identities, took away their clothes, mattresses, etc. Later, it was shown that the guards actually became sadists, and became more and more cruel. Even now, some of the former inmates suffer from PTSD, because what happened to them in there was so horrible. Sherman, Jennifer (March 10, 2020). "North American Anime, Manga Releases, March 8–14". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on April 11, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. This school is run by a caste game that turns teenagers into lustful fools. You are just trying to survive by staying under the radar. Language: English Words: 9,614 Chapters: 8/? Comments: 31 Kudos: 167 Bookmarks: 10 Hits: 4,485

It is this unrestrained and indiscriminate desire to rape Azusa that allows Karino to turn him into a private sex slave: the choice is presented in those exact terms, Karino asks Azuka to 'choose' whether to be raped by him alone or to become the plaything of the mob. ART >>> The panels and characters are well drawn so we can get a little something from their facial expressions at least.

THE CHARACTERS- while not the worst, the characters are complete archetypes. karino- rapist seme, azusa- "badass" straight uke , kuze- the nice romantic seme(subverted to overprotective seme), kuskabe- nerd uke and so on... You may find cliches fun, but since yaoi in genrel has many cliches in a medium that is nutritious for having many cliches, the bare minimum should be to not have them seen like cliches. Oh, did I mention that the character designs are kind of attractive? yeah, its not that their concept is bad, Their story development on paper isn't the stupidist thing ever, it is just that i cant take their story and suffering seriously if i am supposed to have a boner reading this. This manga is about a school that runs under a caste system. Each year they have this kind of "contest" where poker cards are scattered around the school, and whichever one you end up with determines your rank. Example: If you find the King card you become the absolute ruler of the whole school and can shit on anyone and everyone you please, or if you end up with the Joker card then you become a living ass-wipe. The premise of the book is how the tables turn when the previous year's ruler ends up with the Joker card this time around. This seems really interesting, no? And it would have been--If it was done right. I did say in the previous volume that I wanted to see more Tatsumi and Senzaki… I hadn’t expected to receive a full and thorough story. over all, I have only read up to chapter 10 and feel like throwing up. there might be some good thing coming up at some point but honestly, its not worth the read.
