Prolonged, excessive use of laxatives can lead to diarrhoea, low potassium levels in the blood (hypokalaemia) and an imbalance in the amount of fluid and salts (electrolytes) in the body. Prolonged, excessive use may also make the constipation worse in the long-term, as the gut can become reliant on the laxative. Don't exceed the recommended dose of DulcoEase or use it for more than five days unless advised to by your doctor. Prolonged use of DulcoEase is not recommended. If you are still constipated after five days of treatment or need the laxative every day or have persistent abdominal pain, consult a doctor. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/ tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
