The relationship between the relative mobility and the log of the molecular mass should be a linear function - thus, providing a standard curve against which the molecular mass of an unknown protein can be determined from its relative mobility The stretchable electrodes were realized by transferring planar gold nanobelts onto the tripod PDMS substrate, and smooth sinusoidal structure was generated on Au nanobelts when the prestretched tripod PDMS substrate was relaxed. The tripod PDMS provided sufficient space for the Au nanobelts to deform upon tensile loading, leading to significantly enhanced stretchability (130%) of the electrodes. Moreover, there was no obvious increase in the resistance of electrodes after more than 10000 stretch/release cycles. Won et al adopted the ancient art concept kirigami to fabricate transparent electrodes with tunable stretchability. [ Among them, ECG is directly correlated to myocardial conduction, thus is usually employed as a metric to detect cardiovascular diseases, such as arrhythmia. [ The conductivity of the gels was obtained by plotting the resistive component (equivalent to impedance magnitude in the frequency independent region 1–1000 kHz) of hydrogel channel length, ( Fig. 7b). The resulting data is fitted to Eqn 3, which allows the conductivity to be evaluated from the slope and the cross-sectional area.H. Ochiai, H. Shibata, Y. Sawa and T. The bis acrylamide is essentially a cross-linking component of the acrylamide polymer. A typical value for the acrylamide:bisratio is 19:1 and the total acrylamide concentration in the gel affects the migration of proteins through the matrix (i.e. determines the frictional coefficient). At day 1, the dissolved oxygen amount present in all algae/alginate gels was roughly equivalent to each other ( Fig. 2). The dissolved oxygen for all gels increased over the next 28 days, providing a clear indication that the algae were able to proliferate, indicated that alginate is a suitable hydrogel scaffold to support the growth of the algae. From day 3 onwards, the highest amount of dissolved oxygen amount was observed for Hydrogel E1 followed by E2 and then E3. After 28 days the amount of dissolved oxygen present in the gels were as follows, with 11.6 ± 0.4 mg L −1 (Hydrogel E1), 10.8 ± 0.2 mg L −1 (Hydrogel E2) and 9.6 ± 0.1 mg L −1 (Hydrogel E3).

In the aforementioned screen-printed sensors, carbon or gold is often employed as a working electrode, silver or carbon as a counter electrode, and silver/silver chloride as a reference electrode, mainly on an insulating plastic or ceramic substrate. Conventional screen-printed sensors, however, present issues with respect to the electrode materials that have to be determined in advance, and the material of the working electrode, which is particularly limited to carbon and silver as they can be converted into ink. Another approach to obtain even dispersion is to create additional wetting of CNTs, the surface energy of the CNTs decreases as a result, leading to easier dispersion of CNTs in a viscous fluid. Lee etal. adopted a solvent‐wetting approach to mix CNTs in adhesive PDMS (aPDMS). [ Particularly, the characteristics of EMG signals from muscles on forearm can be directly correlated to hand gestures, [ In relation to volume, the large jugs are the cheapest solution, but the gel needs to be drawn up into the syringes. Afterward, the excess gel will have to be wiped off the syringes.A DNA marker (also known as a size standard or a DNA ladder) is loaded into the first well of the gel. The fragments in the marker are of a known length so can be used to help approximate the size of the fragments in the samples. Fundamentally, living electrodes are used to improve the interface between inorganic and organic surfaces. 12 Recently, living electrodes have been the subject of several studies, where hydrogel electrodes have been developed incorporating enzymes, bacteria 6 and blue-green algae. 13 The development of a living electrode using blue-green algae was performed by immobilizing the algae on SnO 2, an optically transparent electrode, with calcium alginate. The electrode demonstrated a unique ability to convert solar energy into electrical energy, producing a distinctive type of electrochemical cell. 14 The use of such electrodes has been shown to provide efficient conversion of solar radiant energy to electric energy using the blue-green algae Mastigocladus laminosus. 15 Other work has shown much progress in the application of eukaryotic cells to produce a living electrode. It has been demonstrated that layered conductive hydrogel (CH) constructs, embedded with neural cells, 16 support cell growth and maintenance of electro activity. 15 The gel consists of a permeable matrix, a bit like a sieve, through which molecules can travel when an electric current is passed across it.
