About this deal

As the tallest telescopic ladder featured here, the Teenza 4.9M Telescopic Ladder extends to an impressive 4.9 m. It’s the best telescopic ladder if you’ve got exterior work to do on your home, such as cleaning upstairs windows or removing leaves from gutters. Telescopic ladders are often a lot more convenient than traditional ladders. They’re generally lighter and easier to move around the home, as well as more practical to store and transport. There are three main parts to the new standard: Part 1 - Terms, Types & Functional sizes, Part 2 - Testing and Part 3 - Marking & User Instructions. Parts 1 & 2 were introduced in January 2018 with a year for manufacturers to transition to The 47.5 cm width is reasonably narrow. This is great for navigating the ladder in awkward spaces, but some users may appreciate a wider platform when climbing the ladder.

I looked at hundreds of extension ladders online, and the smallest I could find was a 2metre triple extension; the next size up was a 2.5m triple. The shortest telescopic ladders extend to around 2.6m (8.53ft) and the longest models top out around 6.2m (20.35ft). The question is what you want to be able to use your ladder for. Shorter models will be fine for general DIY duties in and around the house, while longer models will be required if you’re hoping to get up to the roof of your home to fix the guttering or replace tiles. Are they safe to use? The specifications for trestles and stagings in BS 1129 and BS 2037 remain current and valid while the Ladder Association continue to work with BSI and other parties on the revisions to those standards.B512’s membership is made up of ladder user groups, safety professionals, regulators and members of the Ladder Association and is currently chaired by Don Aers, the Ladder Association’s Technical Manager. In addition to taking part in the development of the EN ladder standards (published in the UK as BS EN’s), B512 is responsible for the British ( BS) ladder standards. The UK had differed from other European countries with a standard specific to ladders intended for domestic use (BS2037:1994 class 3) and with the introduction of the new EN131 this domestic standard was withdrawn. BS2037/BS1129 Class 1 for heavy duty This ladder can be adjusted in 1 ft (30 cm) increments. Therefore, whether you’re painting your upstairs windows or need a simple loft ladder, it can easily be adjusted to suit the space. Beware of buying a ladder that’s longer than necessary – even if it compacts down well, you’ll still have to carry the extra weight.

Although ladders approved to the revised EN 131 standard carry the same load rating, Professional ladders are subject to tougher durability requirements, because they are expected to be subjected to more onerous use. Ready to use straight out of the box, sturdy and convenient. This ladder will have endless uses around the home. Wolfwise has created a reputable name for itself in ladders so you can be sure in knowing that you are in safe hands when using this telescopic ladder.

Worhan is a popular German manufacturer of ladders and produces high quality products. This ladder is no exception and is great considering the price. It is suitable for both professional and domestic use making it one of the most robust telescopic ladders available. Made from corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy, this 4.7m (15.5ft) option weighs in at just 13.3kg, while offering a maximum load of 150kg.

Based on my 17 years experience of working with access equipment, I don’t think telescopic ladders are suitable for: If you have ladders that were compliant with the obsolete and withdrawn standards you may continue to use them if they are still in good condition – that’s It’s easy to carry as well: the heavy-duty strap allows you to secure the ladder shut, and it can then be carried with one hand. It weighs 13.3 kg so is reasonably lightweight, though some people may find it heavy to carry for extended periods.

How will I know if a product is compliant with EN131?

There is no legal requirement to conform to standards in the UK but safety bodies such as Trading Standards and the HSE will expect manufacturers to comply. It is best practice to use new standard ladders, for the safety of yourself or your employees. Although there is no legal requirement buying to the correct standard is best practice and should an accident occur this will be one of the first questions from the HSE. Do I need to retrain my staff? Height & Adjustability: A good ladder offers flexibility. It should cater to various heights and be easily adjustable to suit different tasks. Whether you’re trying to reach the top of a hedge or paint a ceiling, the ladder should rise to the occasion. The EN131-6:2019 for telescopic ladders has also been introduced early 2019 and the EN131-6:2015 was also withdrawn.

I didn’t feel particularly safe when I fully extended it (I’m a heavy guy), as it flexed much more than my regular ladder. It can also be folded in half making a free standing A-frame ladder for general use. (Which is more practical and useful for doing general DIY.) Lightweight and compact– Carrying a telescopic ladder won’t result in some kind of comedy routine like trying to carry a larger conventional ladder! In fact, a telescopic ladder can be carried in and out of the home and anywhere in one hand! A conventional ladder will bash, crash and smash into things and you have to be really careful when moving it around. This telescopic ladder features anti-pinch finger protection (many ladders will pinch fingers when they are closed up). triple extension ladder– 3 metres when closed, 7 metres when extended, 230mm depth, 1.2 metres stabiliser bar.I’ve owned the ladder for just over a year and I use it everyday for surveying purposes. It’s proven reliable and robust. A 3 – 4m ladder will generally be adequate for most household jobs. This will be suitable for cleaning windows and accessing the loft. However, if you need to reach the windows on a two-story house, or go even higher, you’ll need a 6 – 8m ladder. More uses– if you require a ladder to access different heights on your home (for roof, windows, loft etc) then you will need more than one ladder. You can use a 5m long conventional ladder to clean out the guttering but using that to get into the loft would be impossible! A telescopic ladder is adjustable to suit the need of the project. New standards for ladder safety have now come into force, but many sub-standard ladders are still sold online and in shops around the UK. The latter is available in 5 different heights – 2m,2.6m, 2.9m, 3.2m and 3.8m – ideal for those who may not be after a ladder that extends beyond 3m for general jobs around the home and garden.
