About this deal

Cut the rest of the roof boards to the following lengths (the measurement being the longest point): Get eight lumber fillets approximately 1×2 and about 44″ long. (These measurements are not crucial, as the lumber fillets will only be used to brace and hold the template boards in place.) They come in a variety of styles and materials, from wooden gazebos that blend seamlessly with natural surroundings to robust, to permanent metal gazebos that can withstand the elements. Many of the metal options also come with polycarbonate roofing and options for curtains and nets. Garden arbours To achieve this, hold your set square against the newly cut edge and slide it along until you’re able to pencil a line 2″ long, square to the cut edge and finishing at the beams longest (face) edge. Sounds complicated I know, but just follow the drawing in the circle. Also see fig 4.

The Roof laying the roofing boards Laying the Roof Boards Ft and inch version: (metric version below) The rafter pitch is 40 degrees, but because all the roof boards lower edges are raised to sit on the roof boards beneath them, the roof board pitch will be more like 30 degrees. To achieve this, hold your set square against the newly cut edge and slide it along until you are able to pencil a line 50mm long, square to the cut edge and finishing at the beams longest (face) edge. The size of the structure is another important consideration. Ensure the gazebo or pergola suits the scale of your garden and doesn't overwhelm the space. Remember to account for any additional space needed for accessories or garden furniture. Take 8 lengths of 2×4 sawn treated pine lumber approx 74″ long, from which the rafters will be cut.It is important that we know there is enough space for safe unloading. If access problems or restrictions to your property mean we are unable to deliver via our standard vehicles then please call us to discuss your requirements. We may need to look at involving a third party delivery firm locally to you or deliver on specialised vehicle which will incur additional charges payable by the customer. These circumstances are rare and we will always work with you to find a solution. Please note: If we don’t have advanced warning of access issues, we may have to abort the delivery and charge you a re-delivery fee. This gazebo has been designed with eight posts concreted into the ground rather than bolted to a concrete slab or lumber floor. This means that a floor is not necessary – grass will do quite nicely! However if a floor of some description is preferred, then concrete, tiles, slate or lumber can easily be added later without affecting the structure of the gazebo. Find or create an area of even ground where you intend to construct the gazebo. The area should have at least a 3000mm diameter to give you room to work. Cut one piece to the dimensions of the diagram above and then use that piece as a template to mark and cut the other seven. We timed how long it took to put up and take down each gazebo. We also rated each one for how easy it is to adjust the height and tighten the fabric roof.

Start from the top railings and work upwards. Place the shingles with the tabs upwards, secure them with galvanized nails, and make sure the rows overlap to make the water drain faster. Garden structures like these also provide a shaded area for relaxation. You can set up a seating area under your gazebo, creating a tranquil spot to read, meditate, or simply enjoy the outdoors. Wall mounted gazebos can even be used to add a semi-enclosed extension to your house, providing an additional dining area, children's play area, or an alternative to a garden gym providing space for yoga and other exercises. What are pop up gazebos?

Tip: For a professional result, you should put two layers of asphalt shingles on the roof. The inner layer should be placed with shingles facing upside down, while on the top layer the shingles go with the right side up.

Once the rafter is nailed in place, attach an angle clip for added strength on top of the beam and against the rafter (one each side) and fix with 2″ galvanized (flathead) nails. Timeless. Natural. Beauty. Our octagon gazebos are a result of decades and even centuries of knowledge, creativity, wisdom, and craftsmanship. This pleasing effect of this gazebo is not merely because of one element. Instead, it is because of a variety of factors. Plus it is how these elements are combined… First of all, the shape is one that has stood the test of time–the octagon. Many ancient and modern structures have followed this design. People have loved it for millennia, and they still love it today.Get the rafters and cut them at an angle of 63.5 degrees at both ends, using a mitre saw. Each rafter will be attached with one end to a perimeter post and the other to the king post. Get one of the next longest roof boards (38 3/4″) and lay it on one of the first fixed boards so that the ends line up flush with the lower board ends Pencil a square line at one end of the beam with your set square as on the diagram below and then pencil another line 22.5 degrees from the first. Your job is almost done. After all the hard work, shingling the roof will be a breeze. Work with 3-tab shingle strips.
