About this deal

If you can’t tell, I’m a fan of the Schwinn Airdyne Pro. There are still things I’d like to see improved. I think it’s too difficult to access the inner workings of the bike for maintenance and although I don’t know if it’s even possible, it would be cool to have quieter bikes. Multi-display LCD console with Calories, Watts, Time, Distance, Speed, RPM, and Heart Rate readouts Although the AD Pro isn’t an all-metal construction, I think that’s a plus. Metal is in most cases much more durable than plastic, but metal also makes much more noise. And, when it comes to a machine that already produces the decibels that Air Bikes are known to, the last thing you need is more noise. Of course, you can get a relatively gentle workout from these machines but it sort of defies the point. They deliver the best results when properly pushing the body through heavy sprint intervals, followed by periods of rest. More basic models don’t really allow users to hit this maximum effort. Similarly, the Air Bike is also a great tool for rehabilitation, as it doesn’t have the same impact on susceptible joints, such as the knees and ankles, as running or other explosive forms of athletic exercise. What is the best air bike to buy?

With Schwinn’s unlimited resistance formula, the harder you petal, the more resistance you generate. The more resistance you generate, the more intense your workout. Arriving on a pallet, the Airdyne AD8 was already fully assembled. Unlike the AssaultBike Classic, the AD8’s pinion arms are hidden away and protected, so no chance of them getting caught on your clothing. It also meant there were no fiddly hinged arms to attach on arrival. However, with copious instructions detailing how to assemble the arms, pegs and console, I suspect consumer models will need some basic home assembly. Schwinn Airdyne AD8 dimensions Domestic Products: 2 years labour, 3 years electrical parts, 5 years motor and a lifetime in the structure Enjoy total body fitness with the help of the Schwinn Airdyne AD8 Dual Action Air Cycle. Offering unbeatable durability, the moisture-repellent steel construction ensures that this air bike is in it for the long run. The first thing I noticed regarding the bike was the overall quality. The Assault Air Bike and XebexAir Bike have brought a new level to air bikes regarding build quality and the AD Pro is right up there with them.A padded seat provides tremendous comfort and with fore/aft adjustments, users can position the saddle right where they want it. The universal rail and clamp system also allows users to change the seat entirely and swap it out with one of their choice for complete personalisation.

Assault has long been one of the top names and its Elite Assault Air Bike is arguably one of the best out there, featuring seriously chunky parts that even professional athletes have trouble bending and breaking. If you are looking for extremely intense but short workouts, the Air Bike is definitely the contraption for you. Although it is possible to remain in a gentle fat burn zone (around 70 per cent of your maximum heart rate) for extended periods of time, the Air Bike is best used to get the heart rate spiking and coax the cardiovascular system into aerobic and anaerobic states - i.e when you are gasping for breath and essentially training your heart and lungs to be able to push harder and further next time you work out. This is the biggest improvement of the bike over current air bikes and one I would imagine other companies will try and emulate. Opt to have the Airdyne AD8 delivered unassembled, and there is some Ikea-style building to be done. Although the instructions are clear and the only real difficulty is hefting some of the chunkier components out of the box and into position. The Schwinn AD8 is built to stand the test of time as well as the rigours of high-intensity training. Many of the same presets are there such as intervals, time, heart rate, etc. The big differences I noticed were the size and brightness of the AD Pro’s screen being easier on the eyes (especially while sweating) and additional metrics at the top.

Instead, the Air Bike is best known for delivering punishing High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts thanks to its inherent ability to spike the heart rate and have all the major muscle groups screaming in seemingly no time at all.The seat is a little awkward to get used to, and the display is sometimes difficult to read. Annoyingly, the provided bottle holder isn’t deep enough for proper bicycle bottles, and there’s nowhere to place a smartphone during a workout. But it’s difficult to fault the overall build quality and rider experience, which is definitely up there with the best of them. So, it’s pretty clear to see how good of a bike the new Airdyne Pro is, but who cares how good it is if you don’t know how to use it. Cheaper bikes can be found, and we’ve included some of these in this very list, but the fan at the front tends to be smaller, meaning the amount of resistance the bike produces tends to be measly. Above all else, the general build usually involves lots of plastic and soft metals, meaning they can’t withstand the daily torture of a hardcore HIIT session.
