About this deal

Of course, Tamlin has to become a traitor. Maas basically did to him what she did to Chaol and Dorian in THRONE OF GLASS. They both become terribad people so Rowan can show up and steal the scene with his earth-shattering orgasms. I guess maybe even the author realized that Tamlin didn't look that bad, so making him into a betrayer was necessary for giving Feyre a clean-cut reason to dump his ass without looking petty. Also, apparently he harbors a sexual assaulter in his court, because in this book we learn that YET ANOTHER WOMAN IN THIS BOOK tried to have her way with Rhys without his consent, and Tamlin just keeps her around... because he's the bad guy now.

Love the series! Just wanted to make sure readers are aware that it is an erotic romance, with very detailed sex scenes (first book is not that explicit, but as the books progress the explicitness increases). On a chirpier note though, I'll go drown myself into a hell of a long book-slump because nothing, absolutely nothing can come close to this glorious book while its remnants shine so brightly in my mind. What do I think of it? I simply think that making a protagonist go OOC with three plain lines does take an inconceivable amount of talent. Because apparently the whole Queen of Shadows mess wasn't enough. I WILL SAY IT AGAIN: A COURT OF MIST AND FURY IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ IN MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE. Overall, the book was delightful! While there is some more mature content, the story retained all the beauty a fantasy novel is supposed to possess. I very much enjoyed reading this novel, and it’s sequels.NOW IS THE TIME TO BRING IT UP GUYS. THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR. WE WANTED IT TO HAPPEN FOR SO LONG. AND NOW IT'S OUT IN THE OPEN. READY THE CANON. Overall I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses, as I am sure you can tell! I would rate it 10/10 and recommend it to teenage girls and young adults. My only criticism is how long I have to wait for the next installment! This world occupies the physical space of Northern Europe and the British Isles, but in a very different time. A book with magical powers is written in "no language of this world," which a character calls "Leshon Hakodesh. The Holy Tongue." "Leshon Hakodesh" is a common term for the Hebrew language. As Feyre discovers the hard way, hormone surges among the immortals make PMS fun by comparison. What other unexpected consequences might you have to deal with if you found yourself transformed into a fantasy character? THE THIRD BOOK SHOULD BE CALLED "A COURT OF PAIN AND EMOTIONAL TRAUMA" BECAUSE THAT'S HOW IT'S PROBABLY GONNA GO. HERE COMES THE YEAR LONG WAIT. I DON'T THINK I'LL SURVIVE WITHOUT IT LONG ENOUGH. I WANT IT SOOOOO BADLY!!!!!

Family is a part of Feyre’s (the main character. Pronounced ‘Fey-ruh’ in case you were wondering) character. Love is also a message. Dedication to others and to do the right thing. The first time Rhysand and Feyre have sex and he climaxes, the mountains tremble. I refuse to comment on this thing, and if it was me who had written such embarrassing idiocy, I would be hiding my head under the sand. Moreover, all the sex scenes are very cheesy, dramatic and over-written. Ugh, I had my nightmares and Tamlin never woke up to confort me. But Rhys is always there for me when that happens!"Feyre and Rhysand carry heavy responsibility and work hard to do the right thing as they try to rebuild trust and restore societies (and souls) destroyed by centuries of violence. Most of the supporting characters are on their good behavior for the holiday celebrations, so kind deeds and moments of friendship are frequent. Darker, more murderous characters make an appearance, suggesting future plot developments. The Night Court squad is so awesome. We've got Mor, Amren, Cassian, and Azriel who I love all equally. They all have character depth, flaws, and pasts that we learn about. Mor's past was devastating and made me want to just give her the biggest hug. I also enjoyed amren a lot because she looks like she could kill you and will actually kill you. And Azriel and Cassian are also really fun to read about as well. They are all cinnamon rolls. A broad hand gripped my face—gently enough not to hurt, but hard enough to make me look at him. “Don’t you ever think that,” Rhysand hissed, his eyes livid. “Not for one damned moment.” Families can talk about stories that put their heroes in impossible situations, where all their available choices have terrible costs. What other examples do you know?

The new characters are all nice and pretty and invariably haunted by a dark dark past. It’s nice to read about them and to witness their banters, but they don’t stand out as particularly well-written or sophisticated. Feyre and a boy from her village, Isaac, have been meeting in a barn to have sex for two years. Neither has romantic feelings for each other, but they have sex as a reprieve from the sadness and emptiness of their lives. Isaac drinks a contraceptive brew so Feyre won’t get pregnant. If you forget how perfect this couple is, Feyre and Rhysand will remind you 2342342 times why the two of them are the Faerie Jesuses Incarnate who died and prostituted themselves for your sins. Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she's now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.

And true to form, Maas delivers several gorgeous and individual fae males for us to gape over. An interesting element to this is that two of these fae are cursed to wear masquearade masks over half of their faces, so we only have Feyre's imagination for what they must look like beneath the mask. How do you feel about stories where the protagonist is forced to choose among various options, all of them bad? Was someone you know ever in that position? What did they do? How did they decide? I gave it two stars for quality. I didn’t think it was particularly good, but also may not have been its target audience.

Feyre convinces Alis to show her the way to Amarantha’s court Under the Mountain. On her way there, Feyre is caught and taken before the queen. Tamlin pretends to not know Feyre so that Amarantha won’t know how much he cares. Feyre is forced to make a deal with the queen. If she completes three tasks in one a month, Tamlin and all the Fae Courts will be freed. However, she can immediately break the curse and free everyone if she solves a riddle, but if she guesses wrong, she will be tortured and killed. Feyre decides to do the tasks rather than take the chance with an incorrect guess. To all those who still have to start this series and are intentioned to: don’t read A Court of Thornes and Roses. Spoil yourself a little of what happens there and start with this one. Because -and this is the truly sad thing, as someone else said before me- A Court of Mist and Fury could even be enjoyable if the first book had not happened before. As in the previous books, characters use a lot of crude language and swear words -- e.g., "f--k," "s--t," "piss," "pr--k," "bastard," "ass," "hell," "damn." Sometimes as terms of endearment. Multiple uses of crude language, including "s--t," "balls," "damn," and "hell," most often as "go to hell."
