Electromagnetic Separators use wire coils and direct current to provide a magnetic field which can be used to separate ferrous material from non ferrous products. In terms of supplying a bullet magnet separator, we first consult with the client to determine specifications such as the size of the line, the pressure in the line, the size of the product, the temperature, and tonnes / hour. Then we supply drawings to suit their applications for approval prior to manufacture. To clean the Bullet Magnet Separator, the hinged unit door can be opened once product flow is stopped, thereby removing the magnetic bullet from the pipeline. The bullet can then be manually wiped to remove the contaminant. The images below show the unit in the closed and open positions. The 2011 Recycling and Waste Management (RWM) show, staged at the NEC, Birmingham, UK proved to be a great success for Eriez and provided the perfect platform for the launch of the new FinesSort and next generation of Eddy Current Separators. In operation, dry granular materials or powders are fed, under gravity, into the top of the Bullet Magnet. The material strikes the centrally-mounted cone, around which it then flows close to the surface of the magnet. Any ferrous metal contamination is attracted to one of the magnet’s poles and held securely. During scheduled maintenance, on a frequency determined by the level of ferrous metal contamination, the Bullet Magnet is opened and the captured ferrous metal is manually cleaned from the surface of the magnet.
