The mode selector on the GA-FC EX opens up powerful control capabilities with supported Katana MkII models. Double Your Footswitches Connecting a 2nd FC leaves the primary EX controlling which channel 1-4 or panel and the connected FC as the effects switcher. I like this because I used to change channels and forget to switch to effects mode and ended up changing channels when I wanted to turn an effect on or off. This makes that problem go away. Using the EX this way, you will not change modes on the primary FC.
