It looks enormous and ideal for large families, but is there the risk of it being too much to handle? We had a small tear in our handiholdal (User Error)! and the handiWorld Company have been nothing but gracious and kind! and superbly helpful! This company really needs more then 5 stars! Customer service alone is 10 stars! and the ease and effectiveness of the handiholdal has made camping holidays easy and fun! The Roof Bar Fitting Kit comprises 4 x 40cm ‘Hi Grip’ HandiStraps and 4 x 150cm normal webbing HandiStraps which are used to secure the HandiHoldall to the outer fixing points of the metal roof bars thus minimizing any lateral movement.

Roof boxes provide a few hundred litres of extra storage space on a part of your car that would otherwise be unoccupied, the roof. These hinged boxes open up and can easily store suitcases, boxes and other items that eat up valuable cabin space. Does your car already have roof bars? No problem. You can easily attach the 330 litre HandiHoldall to these using its integrated strap system. Furthermore, unlike a traditional roof box there are no storage issues. Once you’ve used the HandiHoldall, simply roll it up and store it in the boot of the car. I was genuinely astonished at how much went in there. Once you’ve put in everything you need, you thread the straps through the handles on the HandiHoldall 400 before passing it through the loops on top of the bag. Finally, you pass the strap through the clasps and pull as tight as you can. My Thoughts The one size fits most 2, 3, 4 & 5-door cars – unlike metal roof bars which are normally specific to the make and model of car.Fitting a roof box to those roof bars is a fairly simply process and the instructions that come in the box should walk you through it step-by-step. Keep in mind the weight capacity of your roof bars, the roof box itself and your car roof.

The concerns about the weatherproofing aren’t too much of a cause for concern unless you travel in really bad weather. As long as you are careful in your planning and don’t put too much strain on the straps, the HandiHoldall roof box could turn out to be a great choice. It is easy to get weighed down by the disadvantages here – pun intended. This massive bag could be a burden in some ways and a pain to set up at first.
