About this deal

What these men count as drama is, for the most part, the natural progression of a relationship. At first, it won’t be a problem. It’s actually emotionally sensible not to dive headfirst into an all-consuming love affair with a stranger. Ask any parent about the human capacity to tantrum; it is universal. Yet the language of drama is deeply gendered: women are dramatic and emotional, men aren’t. Whenever I talk about raising the bar and not settling [in relationships], I always get responses along the lines of, “But what if I keep my high standards and don’t find anyone who meets them?” I enjoyed the way this book was structured and obviously the author is hilarious. She manages to add a much needed amount of sarcasm to make all the behaviors bearable! Valentine's Day: "Thank you to the curfew which allowed us to" conclude "" ... The "lovers of confinement" tell their story

you can translate a language on Tinder? Is there a way you can translate a language on Tinder?

Tinder Translator is a dictionary of douchebaggery for the modern dater – and a hilariously sharp read for all feminists – from Aileen Barratt of @TinderTranslators. It will make you laugh, sigh, think, and leave you feeling empowered and resilient. The 10 funniest things I’ve seen on this internet, you say? No problemo. I’ve been training for this for quite a while. All those nights scrolling TikTok and giggling to myself before suddenly realising it is hideously late? They were research! In your face, circadian rhythms! I’m not going to sit here and write all these adjectives and preach about this book like a religious script (nothing against religion btw), without noting that if I had read this book a year, two or even five years ago, I would have felt this enlightened. Nope!To be frank, this is my first feminist book. I don’t even know how to properly categorise this new and exciting notion that I don’t have to be a Cool Girl (Gone Girl monologue), that I now have the proper tools to identify red flags from the get go. I loved everything about this! Except the misogynistic a*holes depicted obviously! Who likes those? She makes the argument that it is healthier for women to date from a place of knowing what they want instead of being “not sure” or waiting to “see what happens” and that if a guy isn’t sure what he wants that you will save yourself a lot of heartache if you swipe left and look for someone who is better able to articulate their needs and expectations. I couldn’t agree more! Feminism for me is the fight to dismantle patriarchal structures that impose false gender binaries, which privilege cisgendered heterosexual men whilst oppressing women and other marginalised genders. The patriarchy is intertwined with white supremacy (not to mention ableism, transphobia, homophobia etc) so feminism must be intersectional if it has a hope of dismantling these systems of oppression. Which “everyday sexism” really bothers you? More content and community come with this tier! We have quarterly Zooms to discuss different topics, maybe even share a living room disco!

Tinder Interview with Aileen Barratt - The woman behind Tinder

Some of her observations are funny: i.e. that men calling themselves entrepreneurs are usually going nowhere, and pose before expensive cars (in dealership lots) to give the impression they’re wealthy. It’s the male equivalent of those “snapchat filters” girls use to overlay their actually appearances with weird digital masks. For centuries it was used to describe a female-only neurotic condition, and by the 19th century, it was a medical term for women who displayed signs of distress, anger or depression. Tinder Translator is a hilarious and revealing feminist commentary on dating apps and the patriarchy, from Aileen Barratt of @TinderTranslators. Ten years after the introduction of Tinder, dating apps have changed the terrain of human interaction, but many feel like they've been sent into the wilderness without a guide. For those dating cis-het men especially, the blatant misogyny encountered during every swipe session is depressing and enraging in equal measure. I’m so frogging 😋 happy that this book has found me in this moment of my life. It’s something I truly needed to reflect on and many things I needed to experience to genuinely feel like this is a translation for all the frogged up things I’ve experienced. If you catch yourself saying ‘at least’ about a potential match, listen. You are not here for the least.”

TL;DR: the author believes that most straight women have been conditioned from an early age to accept bad behavior from men and that many (but not all) straight men take advantage of this. In the book, she points out common red flags and argues that successful dating comes from both people knowing what they want. Tinder Translator Review Tinder Translator is your hilarious and empowering feminist companion to the world of online dating apps, the patriarchy and self-love from Aileen Barratt of @TinderTranslators. It also provoked a lot of thought in relation to all of my past relationships, and my standard style of diving in before thinking, seeing the red flags and thinking it was a carnival, and continuing to gasp for air as I bounced from one toxic relationship to the other.People complain a lot about Social Media, and I agree, there are so many toxic things happening, it is definitely addictive and the algorithms are twisted and cruel. That said, thanks to social media we can share a laugh, feel connected, challenge what we believe in and be better. I know that the TInder Translators account has made me both laugh hard and be better! So I am thrilled to have discovered more about the woman behind the account and to have the privilege to shout about her!
