About this deal

The book talks about how much fish each penguin eats per day, and so how much fish all the penguins each together per day when they have 100 penguins. This is then converted to dollars per day (“A pound costs 3 dollars… 750 dollars! Per day!”) Having nothing to bring to the game of Addemup, Zero cannot play with the rest of the players in Digitaria and so must come up with a clever plan that will let him play despite his numeric shortcomings. Simultaneous. Really great picture book, love the illustrations and the bold colours - educational too with elements of maths and animal conservation. Whether you go for something humorous or a story that’s inspiring, we hope that you found this list of books about penguins useful and that your young readers will love them too.

This book is ideal for story time as it is an amazing and fun book for children, to create a calm yet enjoyable atmosphere. Not only does the book include colourful bold images that make it eye-catching and get the children engaged, but it also makes it easy for them to visualise a lot of penguins. I have never met the authors or illustrators of this super fine children's book - but nevertheless they chose to illustrate me in as the father. I know that sounds strange, but all my friends, enemies, and a couple of strangers off the street have told me that without a doubt the father in the book is me. Rosie the hen is going for a walk, but she'd better watch out – there's a very sneaky fox hot on her tail feathers! Rosie's Walk has become a beacon in the world of children's picture books, an ever-popular classic which generations have enjoyed. Children love the humour of this near-wordless story. At a wonderful larger size, this new book and CD edition will bring the joy of Rosie's tale and Pat's bold artwork to a new generation of fans. Read by Samantha Bond, and featuring original music and hilarious sound effects children will love listening to this classic tale again and again! When will they receive half the penguins? What day is halfway through the year? (being an odd number, students will have to decide that is half way through the 182nd day.)I love it, but I can understand how this is not the favourite of all people especially seeing how illogical the entire storyline is. Gilbert the penguin has always wanted to fly. But with only small, fluffy wings as his aid, learning to fly is a bigger challenge than he ever thought it would be. The other penguins tell Gilbert there’s no use, and that he’ll never be able to fly, but Gilbert is determined and won’t let any obstacle stand in his way. From the amazing success of the documentary March of the Penguins to the popular penguins in Madagascar to the penguin-themed movie "Happy Feet", penguins are everywhere! That's especially true for the family in "365 Penguins", who find a penguin mysteriously delivered to their door for every day of the year. At first they're cute, but with every passing day, the penguins pile up - along with the family's problems. Feeding, cleaning and housing the penguins becomes a monumental task. They're noisy, smelly and they always hog the bathroom! And who on earth is sending these squawking birds? In a large format and with lots of opportunities for counting, "365 Penguins" is sure to become a perennial wintertime favourite.

In one minute, you can blink your eyes twenty times, hug your dog, plant seeds, say good-bye, watch the rain, or even save a life. So much can occur in this sliver of time—one minute can feel like a singular experience. This poignant picture book is at once an introduction to time for young readers, an ode to living each moment with purpose, and a thoughtful exploration of how children experience one minute (may it seem short or long) playfully, profoundly, and with a boundless sense of possibility. Follow the life of a little penguin in this extraordinary picture book. Watch as the little penguin hatches from an egg between his father’s feet, faces natural predators, survives in the harsh, icy climate, and finally cradles an egg between his feet, where his own little penguin hatches. years old little-AJ is not a big fan of penguins, so he is not super-crazy about this book. Mummy loves this book and can't wait to read this to little-AJ again when he reaches the age to learn more about numbers and mathematics. If one is a snail and two is a person ... we must be counting by feet! This is a fantastic story to stimulate children’s counting skills and could be used in any primary classroom. The discussion may include skip counting and other rich mathematical discussion promoting additive and multiplicative thinking. This book can be used for a whole class mathematical investigation.

Investigate more calendar fractions by dividing the year into terms, seasons, number of lunar cycles etc. Talk about places in the world where the year is divided into halves: wet and dry seasons. It’s important near the end that 365 is odd. There are 182 pairs of penguins plus one penguin, Chilly, who has blue feet instead of orange ones. Every time Mr Archimedes has a bath with his friends, the water overflows. Somebody must be putting extra water in the bath. Is it Kangaroo? Or is it Goat or Wombat? Whoever it is, Mr Archimedes is going to find out. There are 12 months in the year, how many months in half a year? In a quarter? In a third? When will the year be about 3/4 finished?Math is not really my favorite or my best subject, but my niece loves math, so I thought she would enjoy that aspect of the story as well. I think that she actually found it somewhat interruptive, though, and wasn't interested in being pulled out of the story to solve a math problem. In the end I just read the story and let her appreciate it as a story. I did like the author's attempt to show kids real-world applications for math, since a common refrain is "when am I ever going to use this?!" What do you do when a penguin shows up on your doorstep? This little boy thinks the penguin must be lost and tries to return him - but no one has lost a penguin. The boy decides to take the penguin home himself and takes a rowboat to the South Pole. But when they arrive, the boy realises the penguin wasn’t looking for a home after all. The hairstyle is the same, the glasses are the same, and what is even more creepy, the clothing is the same. I felt like they have been observing me behind trees, trashcans, questionable movie theaters to capture my essense. penguins is a book about a lot of penguins. A family finds a penguin mysteriously delivered to their house door. Although the first penguin was a lovely surprise, the quantity of penguin’s increased everyday and soon the total reached to 365. As you read the story this time stop at various points to record how many days have passed (and therefore how many penguins are in the house) by having a student circle or cross out the days on the calendar in vivid. Discuss and record the interesting fractions as you go. For example ask:

Spoiler ahead) in the end, it was revealed that the Penguins were sent over by Uncle Victor, an ecologist who tried to smuggle the birds out of South Pole to their new habitat at North Pole. Again, don't try to analyze the sanity and the reasonableness of this decision. As I said, this is a fun book to play with maths and learn about months and days. There is so much in this story, the use of word problems to try and solve maths problems is excellent. It could be a good idea to use this story over a week, finding ways to solve the problems and making your own.
