Description

Roberto Olivardia, PhD, clinical psychologist, and lecturer in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School This is a guide to help you do the important work that comes before ADHD strategies can be effective. Don’t misunderstand—strategies are essential when you live with ADHD. But are you looking for strategies that will allow you to reach your goals? Or are you looking for strategies that will help you blend in with the neurotypicals? Without understanding, you cannot accept. Without acceptance, there is no path to living out loud with ADHD. However, I don’t feel like this was a very helpful read. Idk there was a lot of emphasis on specific symptoms, especially being messy, which is not a trait I think I have. I don’t think I’m any messier than a neurotypical person and I don’t really understand why it was such a large part of some sections. This book is for those who want to know about challenges women with ADHD specifically experience and how to build you confidence and thought process around them. It is also a workbook for you to easily process your thoughts, so if you are recently diagnosed or think you may be on the spectrum, this is prefect for you!

Women with ADHD - ADDA - Attention Deficit A Special Gift to Women with ADHD - ADDA - Attention Deficit

Our lives can be very, very messy and chaotic, and some people have problems with that. Society puts a ton of pressure on us to be a certain way, wake up between certain hours and have certain types of jobs. A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD” is a game changer in empowering women to accept their neurodiversity. This book guides through exercises that take reader by the hand and accompany them on the journey of discovery as they look deep into their hearts to define their challenges and do the necessary work to choose a path to a stronger more confident and peaceful life.

I wish there was some discussion of of how adhd interacts with mental illness, as I struggle a lot with anxiety and that changes a lot of my behaviors so they’re not always recognizable as adhd traits. Living with ADHD affects the development of one's view of self, especially for those not diagnosed until adulthood, who have spent many years of feeling "different" without knowing why. Hearing stories from other women who also have the same struggles as I do (messiness, running late, forgetfulness, bad habits, the list goes ON...), this book did help me feel less hopeless and more positive, thus not only embracing, but owning my ADHD. It’s something we can never actually get over or rid of. ADHD is part of who I am ... and it’s here to stay, whether I like it or not!

A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD: Embrace Neurodiversity A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD: Embrace Neurodiversity

If you are one of those women, or living with one, I highly recommend this book. It has changed me (baby steps) for the better. I will continue to use it as a workbook to try to gain more acceptance of my differences in my every day life. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Together we’ll walk through selected exercises from the book. Examples of the exercises we may cover: Terry Matlen, LMSW, ACSW, psychotherapist, author of The Queen of Distraction, and founder of www.addconsults.com--Terry Matlen, LMSW, ACSW In this easy-to-read workbook, Sari Solden and Michelle Frank invite women with ADHD to recognize and challenge a variety of assumptions about themselves and others that may needlessly prevent them from experiencing their own full potential. The authors use brief examples from women of various ages to show that constructive, positive change is quite possible with ADHD. Many women with ADHD will find this book interesting, challenging, and helpful."
