If you’re eager to dive into The Catch whether you’ve read T.M. Logan's 2020 book or not then the place to head is Channel 5. The drama is split into 4 episodes, each an hour long, and airs every Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 5 starting from January 25, with episodes made available to stream afterwards on My5. I'll admit, I was slightly terrified that it wouldn't match up to my expectations. The Holiday was and still is my no*1 read from last year and didn't think anything could match up BUT Oh My Days this was incredible. Ed is now determined to discover and expose who the real Ryan is. Yes, he may have disliked Abbie’s other boyfriends in the past. I mean, no one is really good enough for Ed’s daughter. But this time it’s different. This time Ed sees true evil behind Ryan’s eyes! The rest of the family believe that Ryan is the perfect catch, so whys Ed's intuition telling him something different?Told over a short period of less than a week, each chapter is fairly short and narrated from various perspectives; from Ellen’s in the first person which gives a greater insight into her personality and with everyone else in the third person. The Catch is a hugely suspenseful story and the tension builds up slowly, as Ed travels down an increasingly darker path. How far will a father go? Throughout, the reader is left to wonder about Ry In 'The Catch', Ed senses something dangerous about his soon-to-be son-in-law Ryan during their first meeting. His wife Claire and daughter Abbie won't hear of it as he's never approved of her exes. However, he's determined not to let her walk down the aisle, even if it means taking risks and going down the dark road.. I am reading (or listening to be precise) too many of this type of book. They are ok, but I probably need to venture out. So I did so, and went for a light and fluffy read that was softly centred around a cafe in New Zealand and ended up being too soft. So I need to strike the right balance, a middle of the road, if you will.

I’ve read several books by this author but this was the first time I tried the audio version and the narrator did a fabulous job. Even though I think multiple narrators would have given it a just a bit more flash. But that’s just me!💁🏻‍♀️

Lies

Is her father just being paranoid and is her fiancé really a "Catch". Abbey is getting married soon, so time is running out in more ways than one. The author did an excellent job in keeping me on my toes, and uncertain if Ed was losing his grasp on reality or if Ryan was indeed not quite the catch everyone thought he was. This was an addictive read that I raced through. Loved speaking with @ danspapers about the first panel I’ll be moderating at @ HamptonsWhodun this year, featuring… https://t.co/hwrdV45fSz Apr 4, 2023, 11:48 AM

The extent of Ryan’s disturbing hunting behavior is also made clear in The Catch book ending. Prior to his demise, he explained in his narrative that he pre-dug graves on the moors and filled them with a lilo to keep the shape so they were ready for his victims. He also had night-vision goggles and drugs ready for use too and it was made clear that Abbie was part of his cover, not the end of his desire to carry on killing. How could Channel 5’s The Catch ending differ? Highly engaging, fast paced and all the crazy train madness. An excellent, entertaining psychological thriller. Thanks to Jayne for recommending this one! A genuine psychological thriller that grabs you by the throat and throws you around! I did find the section about Ed a little long-winded (half-a-star) and I was ready to move on. And then I did, at full speed, no time to breathe. Great start, its taut, exciting, intriguing and suspenseful, and when they both get kidnapped it ratchets up all those things even more Ed wasn't expecting to find out that his daughter Abbies boyfriend is in fact her fiance once he finally meets Ryan for the first.

A catchy premise with a promising start - Ed secretly gathering information on Ryan, not caring what Claire and Abbie thought of his suspicions. The story was mostly told from his perspective which would've been interesting if he had at least an iota of intelligence. Instead he was a bumbling idiot who: The Catch , my fourth book, tells the story of a father who becomes convinced his daughter is about to marry a man with terrible secrets. It has also been made into a four-part TV drama starring Jason Watkins, Poppy Gilbert, Aneurin Barnard and Cathy Belton (broadcast on Channel 5 in January and February 2023, all episodes now available on My5). When Abbie introduces her father (ED) to her fiancé, Ryan; Ed instantly mistrusts Ryan. On the surface, Ryan seems like the perfect catch - he is successful, charming and handsome. But Ed can feel that something isn't quite right with the young man.
