About this deal

I have mixed feelings about the actual premise of the book. Lydia doesn’t tell Jake that she isn’t Lily Bennett until much later in the book. I’m not a fan of relationships that start out with deception, and I thought that she didn’t have a great reason for not telling Jake who she really was early on in the book. I also wondered how she was able to keep her real identity secret from Jake for such a long time. This was a fun book to read and a lovely one for summer. It is amazing what someone can do when they decide to try new things. Enjoy this 5 star book. The message that this book gave, we can relate to and that is to keep those in your life that like you for who you are, and let those go that try to change you. The book had everything, adventure, tears, love as well as many laughs. Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. To continue shopping, enter the characters as they are shown Adam, Lydia’s husband, has found a new partner and deserted her, leaving Lydia feeling lost and alone unable to move on. She has tried internet dating, but still loving her husband, hasn’t succeeded in finding a new partner.

Lydia Grey had become so accustomed to bad dates that she didn’t even flinch at the unexpected warmth of someone else’s tongue in her mouth. She also makes a new friend Jake. Together they embark on the list. However, he thinks she is Lilly not Lydia. Will the truth rip apart their new friendship. This is a light hearting book with smiles included. Get In Jake Jones, a table tennis pro that has actually recently retired after damaging his wrist. At their first conference Jake thinks that given the name on the listing that she is Lily Bennett. Lydia figures it will be ok “since Jake was just going to be her experience close friend. Did it really matter so much if he never understood her actual name?”Lydia Grey is 39 when she’s discarded by her partner of twenty years for an Italian supermodel and ultramarathoner. He tells Lydia that she’s uninteresting which their marriage has become stale. How can she contend? I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.*** Oh my god I don’t know if I could’ve loved this more. An absolute feel-good novel with characters that are real and flawed, who GROW and love each other and support each other and urgh I just want to give this book a big hug. There were so many high points of this book - the writing was excellent, the characters were fantastic, their dynamics were believable and their dialogue was as well, the plot was interesting and not something I’d read before, and though predictable, I enjoyed every second of it. This was such a fun, delightful, and adorable read. I finished this in less than 24 hours because I couldn’t put it down. I loved the writing style, the magic, loved just about everything. I loved reading this book. The characters were all lovable Lydia, Jake, Ollie, Aga, Tosh, Mila, etc, all will be rememberable.

Lydia Grey is 39 when she's dumped by her husband of twenty years for a young Italian supermodel and ultramarathoner. He tells Lydia that she's boring and that their marriage has become stale. How can she compete? Jake mistakes Lydia for Lily when he offers to help her complete the list, but tempted to be someone – anyone – other than plain old Lydia Grey for once in her life, Lydia doesn’t correct him. If you’re looking for a book that will inspire adventure and to get you out of your comfort zone while still getting that Rom Com feel, this is the book for you.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”

Lydia Grey's life is often dull, as dull as the colour grey when there's no light and shade and atmosphere to it, say like you would see in a painting. It's just plain dull! Even her husband, since left, even though after so many years together, because she had become drab and boring. This was a decent read but I have to wonder what kind of adult woman Lydia Grey was to spend 1.5 hours to put on a full face of makeup and straighten her hair to go…climb a mountain. Ridiculous really. I tried to overlook it but she was just obsessed with appearances throughout the whole book, then complains about her ex husband being obsessed with her appearance. What? The most life-affirming and uplifting debut you will read this year. Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Fiona Gibson and Clare Pooley.

I so appreciated this uplifting charming comedy. Prior to starting I had expected its lead character would certainly be called Lily Bennett, yet no. Lily wasn’t like her. She might not have seen adventure before, but she’d made a plan. She wasn’t standing still, like Lydia. She was moving forwards, grabbing life with two hands and going after the things she wanted. The life she wanted.” However, deception aside, I really liked Lily and just adored Jake. Together they made a believable and lovely couple and I was rooting for them throughout the book. It seemed more like Lydia’s daughter was parenting her rather than the other way around. Which was uncomfortable being as this is an almost 40 year old woman being parented by her 19 year old daughter.
