Description

I decided to see all of Tarkowski's movies. In all of his works, we find the same questions about the human conditions. Cinema, as its core, is the capture of reality over time. At its heart is careful observation of reality. The artist brings his own unique reality and worldview to a film, creating a prism through which objective reality is filtered. The artist must depend on his own experience, feelings, and thoughts in crafting a cinematic work.

A man writes because he is tormented, because he doubts. He needs to constantly prove to himself and the others that he’s worth something. And if I know for sure that I’m a genius? Why write then? What the hell for?”

Popular quotes

A passionate proponent of the creative and psychological benefits of boredom as a function of learning to fully inhabit time, he considers the undergirding psychological scaffolding that makes the allure of film so robust: Her birimizin içinde olan o özgün insanilik ve ebedilik üzerinde düşünmeyi teşvik etmeyi görevim sayıyorum.

art, like science, is a means of assimilating the world, an instrument for knowing it in the course of man’s journey towards what is called ‘absolute truth’.

Kollar treats his music with a deep degree of seriousness and personal involvement, as if each and every one of his projects What can it mean to them when they have not shared with the author the misery and joy of bringing an image into being?”
