About this deal

and a 43mm lug-to-lug length. It's also not a dive watch, or even a dive-style watch (like the Sea Urchin).

water resistance isn’t very high, it’s suitable for day to day use but you can’t go swimming etc with it. The Seiko SNK809 features a water resistance of 30m or 3 bar if you prefer reading it that way. 30m water resistance isn’t much, but I don’t expect you’re going to go all out diving with this style of watch. Night time visibility on this Seiko never really gets as much credit as it should; it’s pretty good!

Like all automatics, the SNK809 requires regular wear for it to keep going, and has a power reserve of about 40 hours. But even with constant wear, you’ll have to reset the time every couple of days to account for the deviation.

Now this may not be that exclusive watch that’ll make an entire room weak in the knees whenever you stretch your hand out for that cuppa joe, but numbers don’t lie. The 7S26 automatic winding movement combines simplicity with reliability. It’s fitted with 21 jewels and beats at 21,600bph. With a standard deviation of -20/ +40 seconds a day, the 7S26 isn’t the most accurate of movements but is pretty reasonable for its’ price point.Great post. This is an article I will visit repeatedly; I’m sure. But I don’t understand the absence of the modern Astron. The titanium Astron GPS Solar UTC is my daily work-horse because is does everything, including power itself and find the right time and date, without me even having to touch it. It feels solid but never heavy and has good lume. It is so comfortable I sleep with it on.

I always end the day and start the next day wearing this watch. Depending on the day, I will wear the Astron, a Casio, a Rolex, a Muhle Glashutte, a Doxa or a Zelos. It just depends what is going on during the business day or weekend. But I always put on the Seiko at lease once a day. I can’t say that about any other watch I own. So, I can’t help but ask: It’s safe to say that the Seiko 5 SNK809 isn’t one of the most stunning looking watches. I don’t think I’d wear it to any serious formal occasions myself, but I would be more than happy to wear it as a day to day watch. Above: A Submariner-styled SKX007 mod, with a SKX171 dial. Very nice stuff! (Source: /u/landingshortly on Reddit)The most foolproof way to go about setting the date and time is to start working from the previous date. The Seiko SNK809 provides many features including its being durable, reliable, and practical. This makes it a practical option if you’re looking for your first-ever automatic timepiece. It explains why this model is, in fact, one of the best-selling Seiko watches on the market today. The more you wear it, the more it provides accurate time and day date. This means that the watch does not utilize the battery when it is worn by the user. HardlexMineral CrystalDial and Casing The minute and hour markers are both in sword shapes. As for the second hand, it is in a mini-straight line that passes through the middle.

It’s more than splash proof as you might read. It’s not the most water-proof watch for scuba-diving. So if you’re planning to do that activity, you should probably consider a different unit. This feature provides a power reserve of about 1.6 days, which is more than enough for everyday use. So the watch can store about two days’ worth of juice before you’ll need to wind up the watch again. This figure is on the high end since automatic watches tend to have a power reserve up to 48 hours. Day/Date Beyond the strap, there’s not much to complain about, and the Seiko gives watches costing twice as much a run for their money. But I just have to point it out that adjusting and using this watch is very easy and convenient. And if the size is the only factor that you are considering, then I suggest that you think twice or even thrice before closing the doors for the SNK809. The sharp hands are fully lumed, and the second hand is lumed on its counterweight with a flash of red on the pointer end. Granted, it only lasts for a while after the sun goes down, but the silver-toned luminous hands allows you to easily tell time in the dark. Personally, I find that even though I don’t really need numbers to tell the time, the minutes being on the outer edge manages to confuse me and this watch always needs two glances to tell the time!
