Both Shark and Dyson offer a wide variety of products with different features, performance levels, accessories, cleaning profiles, and price points. Dyson V10, Dyson V11, and Dyson V15 – Dust bin release hatch is on the side, like a “point-and-shoot” approach I’ve been comparing the Dyson V10 (or V8) Animal versus Shark Cordless Pet Plus / Shark Cordless Pet /Shark Cordless Pet Pro and I’m confused. How do I figure this out? The Dyson V15 is the most high-performance vacuum cleaner Dyson has ever built, and arguably that has ever been built anywhere in the world. It has 230 AW of suction power, giving it as much and more power than many upright vacuums.

It should be no surprise that Dyson bases their design of upright vacuum of the cyclonic technology and patented “Dyson Ball”. Struggles a bit more with medium and large size debris, when cleaning hardwood floors. Dyson’s newer V10, V12, and V15 do much better on hard surface flooring. Thank you so much for this very informative video. You’ve helped me make a decision between purchasing another Dyson and moving to a Shark. Because I have an extremely hair dog and my home has a great deal of carpet, I’ll be staying with Dyson (the Animal 2) and it’s stronger suction. The Dyson I have has served me well for 11 years but it’s getting very tired. The most notable improvement is the adjustable cleaning head. By simply moving a switch you can raise / lower a gate on the front of the cleaning head, allowing more room and adjusting suction power. Pros I rang to try and replace the motor head, only to be told that they no longer sell that model and I could NOT get a replacement of the same head!! I was offered another unit at a reasonable price but was not happy, I did not want to buy a new machine.

Robot vacuums– if you want a vacuum, but don’t want to do the vacuuming yourself, a robot vacuum is the way to go. These have come a long way in recent years, with their performance rivaling other vacuum types. I would also suggest you consider a HEPA air purifier. A purifier can make a big difference for allergies…think of it like a vacuum for your air. The vacuum removes dust on the ground, the air purifier removes dust in the air. When it comes to raw cleaning power on carpets the Shark vacuums tend to lag behind the Dyson V15, V11, and V12. However, not by a huge margin.

I really do encourage everyone to read through the instruction guide/product manual prior to using the vacuum for the first time. It's important to know the proper way to clean and use each part of the vacuum. Proper maintenance can make all the difference in extending the life of the vacuum.
