About this deal

Amanda Brookfield writes first class contemporary novels that are in a class of their own and The Split is a superbly written tale readers are going to love. If you haven't read any books by this author, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? You really don't know what you are missing! She is my all time favorite author. All of her books have been WINNERS for me. This one is a memorable read. Busch, Anita (January 17, 2017). " 'Split' and 'xXx' merge into market while 'The Founder' may get lost in heavy traffic". Box office preview. Deadline Hollywood. Archived from the original on May 19, 2020 . Retrieved November 13, 2019. I like the main characters, Jeremy made me laugh a lot. Ally and her dad have a great relationship and he reminds me of my dad which is nice. Yes. I do think Lucas is the type of person who could unwittingly put women in uncomfortable situations, but since we got to read the actual scene, I would say it was definitely an over-reaction. She insisted on putting him on the spot and he responded in an awkward way. But then instead of handling it like an adult, she handled it like a child, running to someone bigger to go put Lucas in the corner.McNary, Dave (October 27, 2015). "M. Night Shyamalan's Next Movie Titled 'Split,' Set for January, 2017 Release". Variety . Retrieved December 8, 2015. If you were able to enjoy this, I'm happy for you. The above review is expressing my personal thoughts towards this book and I am afraid that these were less than favorable. as some of my goodreads friends will know, i'm a cynical old dragon who hates joy, so i usually don't gravitate towards romances or comedies. but i am glad i gave this one a go and it made me smile (listening to the audiobook narrator's gorgeous sheffield accent definitely helped)!

This was a slow paced but gripping family drama. I really liked Esther and it was good to read a story based around a woman in middle age when her marriage falls apart, her children leave home and we follow her as she's trying to build a new life for herself. a b c Guerrasio, Jason (February 16, 2017). "How 'Split' pulled off its incredible twist ending – and where it goes next". Business Insider. Archived from the original on February 16, 2017 . Retrieved February 18, 2017. Lucas and Esther are getting a divorce after spending more than two decades together, but it's hard for Esther not to be bitter as she watches Lucas enjoying his successful career and a new relationship with his much younger girlfriend.Philip, Tom (October 4, 2017). "Against all odds, the sequel to M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable and Split is now a real movie that's in production". GQ . Retrieved July 21, 2018. One of the strongest things in this book, in my very subjective opinion, was how flawed everyone is. Every character feels real in a way that made me want to instantly befriend them all (and also shake some sense into most of them, except for Sophie and Charlie, who are perfect and I would die for them.) Ally makes some abysmal decisions, and, as the book goes on, it becomes clear that her ex is not, in fact, an evil tyrant who dumped Ally for no reason. We learn this along with Ally, and it felt very authentic to see the truth of the situation come into view at the same time she does. I'm always a fan of books where the protagonist is allowed to be messy and to make mistakes, and to do deeply questionable things; I don't believe a character should be forced to be likeable at all times. Real people aren't. Ally was still a deeply sympathetic character, even when she was being a real idiot, and that's the mark of great writing; I never stopped rooting for her. Loughrey, Clarisse (February 7, 2017). "Split sequel already in the works, says M. Night Shyamalan". The Independent. Archived from the original on May 24, 2022 . Retrieved April 25, 2017. There is a lot going on in this story, each of the characters portrayed in it seem to be going through some major changes, it’s not a book for happy ever after that’s for sure but the author beautifully navigates the story through all the stress and drama.

I am part of a generation where children have parents that are still married, compared to current status, where it’s more common to have divorced parents. (I am not being judgmental here, I know that often getting divorced is the better solution compare to staying together).
And being single, I can only try to imagine how it feels when you are part of a unit and then you are not… Sharon Bolton’s The Split is quite a reading experience. The titular “split” seemingly involves the breakup of Felicity and her husband, Freddie. Freddie has been in prison, and Felicity has been safe from his abuse during that time. However, Freddie is now out and will do anything to find his Felicity. I had just about finished my review of when I received a text from my mom. Right about now there are three groups of people. Or just three people.Sub-plots include: Nina having sex with Rex; youngest Defoe daughter, Rose, getting married and already having to push away doubts; dad Oscar returning unannounced after a 30-year absence for reasons yet unknown; and one of Hannah’s new colleagues being an old friend with whom she once had A Thing and who is totally up for Another Thing (or rather, another bit of very much the same Thing) despite the fact that Hannah is now married to and has three children with Nathan ( Stephen Mangan, no relation, in case you were wondering). Morgan’s characters tell us most in the interstices, when the world falls away Joe is involved in two difficult relationships with women, Felicity and his mother, Delilah. How well does he manage the two, and do you see them as damaging or affirming? MANCHESTER MOB The Detectives: Taking Down an OCG: What happened in Rochdale in 2017?
