With the conical mod installed, the brake pedal almost becomes like a true progressive brake. It feels similar to a loadcell brake, although it’s not quite there in terms of braking quality. It sits just under a loadcell brake, such as that in the Fanatec CSL Elite LC pedals. One of the key improvements of the T3PA pedals, once you’ve looked past the third pedal, is the inclusion of a brake mod. This optional brake mod changes how the brake pedal reacts, and adds a slightly more realistic feel to the pedal progression. We’ll look at this in more detail further in to this review. The T3PA Pro is 100% metal, and as such is dramatically heavier – almost triple the weight of the T3PA. This set looks and feels dramatically more durable, but it’s worth noting that despite the increased weight – you’ll want to mount these pedals, especially if you intend to use them in GT configuration. Although the regular T3PA offer great value for money, we think the T3PA Pro are a far better choice for most sim racers. They are built entirely out of metal and are far more customizable with both F1 and GT pedal setups. T3PA vs T3PA Pro: Technical Specs Mr Watton is imo opinion one of the greatest content channels you may not have heard of, here he shows how to calibrate the Thrustmaster T3PA PRO. The work within the community and his support to others is always represented. Here is a fine example to help those with the Thrustmaster T3PA PRO pedals with an issue he had. So following that Mr Watton goes into great detail on how to calibrate and set up the software for these pedals.

If you fancy increasing or adjusting the brake pedal resistance, the T3PA kit does come with an optional brake mod. This brake mod (the conical rubber brake mod) features an industrial-grade high-density rubber cylinder. Drawing on its know-how and technological expertise, Thrustmaster develops products—flight simulation peripherals, headsets, and controllers—designed to offer extremely accurate gameplay, providing a completely immersive experience with optimal realism across numerous platforms. The T3PA pedals by Thrustmaster are an add-on pedal set which is compatible with the T300 RS, T500 RS, and TX racing wheels. They include a third pedal to improve gameplay over their two pedal cousin. Thrustmaster’s latest pedal set doesn’t stop there: it also includes two removable mods, which can be installed directly underneath the brake pedal. Overall, when compared to the two pedal set, the T3PA pedals do ooze a much more professional quality. We would say that almost any two pedal setup isn’t ideal, but this jump from the two pedals to the three feels rather more significant. This improves the ease of being able to use the heel and toe technique to downshift. You can replicate a similar setup with these Thrustmaster pedals. The footrest features an almost industrial style metal grip plate. And quite honestly, we really dig it. It looks hefty and it isn’t as slippery as you may think from first impressions. The T3PA pedals include a factory supplied "conical brake mod" which is intended to feel just like a load cell. Don't be fooled! This device makes the pedal feel increasingly firmer the further it is pressed, making harder to move. However, the pedal is still using a potentiometer and is still reading movement rather than force. So while the game is determining braking by how far the pedal has moved, the "conical brake mod" is preventing the pedal from moving creating a dis-proportioned amount of in-game braking relative to the force being applied to the pedal. A load cell corrects this. The load cell replaces the potentiometer and turns the pedal into a purely force-based reading. Therefore, any additional force on the pedal directly translates into a proportional amount of braking applied in the game. This leads to better control over the brakes for better trail braking resulting in better lap times. The Thrustmaster T3PA-PRO 3-Pedal Add-On Pedal Set is a realistic, high-end pedal set that will take your driving experience to a whole new level! It offers 2 different positions (floor-mounted or suspended), 100% metal construction, 100% adjustability, and includes 2 different removable BRAKE MODS. The T3PA-PRO is compatible with all Thrustmaster T-Series Racing Wheels including the T300 RS / T300 Ferrari GTE / T300 Ferrari Integral Racing Wheel Alcantara Edition / T300 Servo Base, T500 RS / Ferrari F1 Wheel Integral T500, T150, and TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition/ TX Racing Wheel Servo Base / Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel. Can also be directly connected to your PC thanks to the T.RJ12 USB ADAPTER (Sold separately). Thrustmaster has been in the business of making great gaming peripherals for decades. The T3PA and T3PA Pro are two of Thrustmaster’s best sim racing pedals, but which set is better?

I feel like I have a lot more control over the braking. It's strange having so little pedal travel, but I've adapted to it. It is MUCH easier to give a little tap of the brakes now. Both of these sets feature considerable options for adjusting the height, angle and pitch of the pedals – and both include mod options for the brake pedal (one with the T3PA, two with the Pro) for tweaking the feel and required braking force. Further mods are available both from Thrustmaster as well as third-party manufacturers. Sim racing and motorsport has always been a great passion that I fully enjoy. The sim racing world has been going through many changes over the past few years that brings the Motorsport/Automotive and Gaming world closer than ever, and it is a great pleasure to see this happening. Then there is the new conical brake mod, which is from the standard T3PA pedal set. The conical brake mod is a piece of high-density rubber, shaped like a cone. When you are looking to buy a Thrustmaster sim racing wheel, you will see that the main wheel bundles come with a two pedal set as standard. You do have the option to upgrade to a three pedal set as part of these bundles, which add these T3PA pedals to your bundle. The conical brake mod is where these pedals really come in to their own. The T3PA-Pro pedals come with two brake mods in fact. The first is the spring based brake mod from the T500RS pedals. This is OK, and effectively makes the brake pedal stiffer. When bolted to a playseat alcantara the pedal mount flex too much, and gt sport on ps4 need a lot of pressure to get 100% brake. As we stated in the previous section, both of these pedal sets have been around for a considerable amount of time and it’s probably best to say that they’re both overperformers – but the increased quality and customizability of the Pro model does translate to better performance.
