About this deal

crops from center, A7rII, b ecause of focus shift (see corresponding section) I refocused for every shot. Thanks for the review. Would you be able to elaborate the differences with the TTArtisan 35mm f0.95 and the 7Artisans 35mm f0.95? I am torn between the two and would love to hear the pros and cons of these two. Thank you! The large variance in lens weight in the spec is from differences in mount formats. They make the same lens for E-Mount, X-Mount, M43 etc. and the mounts all weigh in different. Although I haven’t been able to find exact numbers for how much each mount weighs. Chinese lens manufacturer 7Artisans has several options for the Fujifilm X mount as well as full-frame lenses for other camera brands. 7Artisans specializes in prime lenses at affordable prices relying on design clues from classic lenses from the past, namely Leica lenses. It is recommended to have a look at this article first to get an idea how this brightness graph works.

While the scene above may not show it fully there are sample images in this article where I see a difference. Even with images at further distances, you can create separation and quantify the out-of-focus areas easier at f/0.95. The difference should be even more pronounced if you come from a Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR.The one-stop advantage! Or is it one stop? On paper, the f/0.95 is one and one-sixth of a stop faster than f/1.4, meaning you should be able to shoot at more than double your shutter speed. So far this lens only comes in M-mount, but maybe we will also be seeing an E-mount version as was already the case with the TTArtisan 11mm 2.8 fisheye. The 50mm 0.95 reviewed here has the following specifications: I would say it depends on the situation and personal preferences. I have, and love, the fuji 35mm f1.4, but I’ll almost never use it after purchasing the 7artisan. This comparison was done at 0.7 m focus distance, you may get slightly different results at other distances. Sharpness infinity (42mp Sony A7rII) I did read that the 7artisan version appears to be more like a 1.2/1.4 when it comes to actual light transmission and DOF - which would defeat the purpose if true.

To make the long story short, this lens is not optically perfect - if that is what you are after then look elsewhere. But if you find inspiration in vintage photographs or movies then the pleasing soft rendition of this lens will reward you with distinctive vintage look. Yes, you need to know what you are doing or you need to learn it. This lens will not turn any random snapshot into a masterpiece by itself. But if you understand what you find pleasing on vintage photographs you can explore your creative abilities with it.

If you are not after that f/0.95 maximum aperture this Voigtlander is a better lens in many ways (e.g. sharpness, contrast, flare resistance) and way more portable. The qualities I am looking for in a lens such as the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 are better described with words like character, dreamy, and film-like than corner-to-corner sharpness, contrast, and color accuracy.

Same holds true with the sun close to a corner of the frame. Leica M10 | TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 | f/0.95Now I have a hard time to choose between a 28 or 35mm but I want a fast lens, at least f2. I’m looking at the Voigtländer Ultron, 35mm f2, but will borrow a 28 f1.4 from a friend if mine 🙂 The experience is more tactile with a solidly built lens like this. The combination of my Fujifilm X-Pro3 and the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 feels very robust and does not tip the scale of what I find too heavy which is something I really appreciate. For comparison’s sake I included the Zhong Yi Mitakon 50mm 0.95 II here. Despite the significantly smaller rear lens diameter interestingly the amount of optical vignetting is very much comparable to the Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 and there is also none of that strange light spill. So, I’ve recognized Venice, of course, and Ortisei 🙂 I’m often in Venice and used to work a lot in South Tyrol. Since I got rid of all my Fuji lenses I am also loving my files. 🙂 While I’ve been using Fuji since 2012 I’ve also Nikon since 2004, and Canon, and preferred the colors from those cams. But now I think perhaps it is mostly about lenses. This 7Artisans has really improved things. Well, someday maybe try the 5.6. You might be surprised what can be done. Up close on portraits, some very nice, surprisingly shallow DOF.
