The plot revolves around the animals coming together to clean up their home and spread awareness among humans about the harmful effects of waste on the environment. Through their efforts, they show that small actions can make a big difference in protecting the planet. I will definitely use this book in my future classroom because of the wonderful details it includes! One way I would use this book is to create a scaffolded reading lesson. I love how it has a central dialogue throughout the book, but it also has so many smaller anecdotes too. I would have students create a concept map graphic organizer to go along with the scaffolded reading lesson so they could summarize all of the good information throughout the book. I would also use this book for a science lesson. It is a fun way to get students thinking about reducing waste as well as recognize the impact that they have on their environment. Other: Not everyone will appreciate the genius of this book. Still, there is so much value in this little treasure.

Reading to find books for my kids' educational camp on climate change. I accidentally saved the best for last - this book was amazing! An engaging and informative book that highlights the reality of the problem with rubbish. We can clean up now or face the prospect of renaming Earth. If we don’t change our ways we may well be saying welcome to ‘Garbage Planet’ in 2050. This new book has lots of information for children about the state or of the planet, about the pollution and waste that humans create and the things we can do to improve the situation — renewable energy, recycling, eco-friendly alternatives and different ways of living, how to make a positive impact and what we all can do. The book also explains different types of waste management too which is very fascinating to learn about.

Did you know that every single plastic toothbrush ever made still exists? Or that there is a floating mass of rubbish larger than the USA drifting around the Pacific Ocean? The illustrations are excellent, and really add to the information display. The colours, fonts and design are excellent, great for kids (bright colours, playful fonts). In a general sense Cicero contrasted the short-lived memoranda of the merchant with the more carefully kept account book designed as a permanent record. [8] Garbage has always been produced by humans - though the amount of it is defnitely going up in modern times! Archaeologists look at the garbage left by prehistoric civilizations to better understand how the lived, and some day the same may be done by future scientists trying to understand more about our generation. There are tons of intricate details (e.g. about things like electronic waste) as well as broader big-picture concepts. This book has an excellent mix of both. This book has fun facts, and answers questions a lot of books/children's material generally doesn't (e.g., where does our poop go?).

Finally, she defines deforestation and conservation near the end of the book. This is a book I want to keep on my shelf. Every school should have this available for their students. I could easily see this in a classroom setting spanned out over a 4-week course. It's just an amazing book...Everything you need to know about what we're doing to our environment, good and bad, from pollution and litter to renewable energy and plastic recycling. Don't think it strange that I loved this book. I did! It was informative, entertaining, illuminating, and quite frankly brilliant. Who knew that waste could be explored so creatively? I certainly didn't. I'm so glad that I was given a chance to review this title. This is the type of book that I would add to my keeper shelf in my home library. I see so many ways of using it with my family for educational purposes. I think anyone who reads this will raise their level of consciousness about waste and waste management. Bravo!

There’s been a lot of great coverage and hopefully lots of people have made some changes and are trying to create less waste. I received an ARC and it's another fabulous fact-filled DK book that explores what to do with waste. Tons of great information, set out in an easy to read format, dealing with environmental issues.The art is fun, which might seem strange considering how serious the topic is, but I think that approach keeps the subject hopeful. I liked the history of garbage and the frank message of where we are. Finally someone wrote a book about a question that I had for a long time! The language is super accessible and easy for kids. The amount of research involved is amazing! The illustrations are beautiful. I particularly like that each chapter is divided into small "articles", it makes it for a lighter read, not too heavy on the scientific aspects.
