About this deal

Image stabilisation on GoPro and the DJI is a huge feature, and here AKASO includes their 6-axis stabilisation which is good to see. The Brave 6 Plus is even more affordable and so won’t have a few of the extra bells and whistles and a few slight differences, but basically for the price, it’s a great entry into the action camera world.

Akaso Brave 6 Plus Review - Camera Jabber

And then there’s the product range. AKASO is also in the lead in this area, because they have more options for casual consumers. They have three camera ranges, with 2-3 options in each range; a total of 7 action cameras. I will tell you a little bit about each one and list all the important specs in product information tables. There are two 3.7V 1050mAh batteries, each battery gives around 60 minutes of continuous video recording. One thing that disappointed us about the Brave 6 Plus is that it doesn’t work as an external drive. If you use a USB cord to connect it to your PC or Mac, it’s only going to charge. Your computer won’t recognize it. To retrieve your videos or images, you’ll need to remove the MicroSD card from the camera. Insert it in your computer or smartphone, and you’ll be able to access your storage. You can increase the brightness of your photos and accept the resulting noise in the image by choosing high ISO values. Low ISO values give darker images but with less noise. With this new model, Akaso has proceeded with the traditional box-shaped design. This camera is strikingly similar to the Brave 6 model and one may easily confuse the two. The Hero7 Silver features a very intuitive touch screen, just like its more expensive counterparts. And that includes the touch zoom feature, which is very convenient. This action camera also supports time-lapse video, which allows you to capture some truly stunning footage. But it is not capable of time-lapse images, so keep that in mind.

I tested waterproofiness by submerging the clear plastic waterproof housing (without the camera) in a tub of water for hours, with paper inside. The housing seemed great, paper was bone-dry when removed, no signs of any moisture leakage. The accessories have a similar higher quality look and feel. Plus, most of these accessories are actually compatible with other action cameras, including GoPro. When it comes to editing your videos, that’s when things start to get complicated. You will need GoPro’s Fusion Studio software,at the very least, to create some decent footage. Keep in mind that each of the action camera’s SD cards stores footage from one lens – Fusion Studio allows you to stitch that footage together into one mind-blowing video. I would advise you to always carry the extra battery with you to be getting longer recording times. The Electronic Image Stabilization is one of things I liked in this camera. And it works on all video resolutions which is good but the stabilization itself can be better compared to other Akaso action cams like the v50 Elite. At the time of review, the price of the Akaso Brave 6 Plus is very appealing. On paper, the camera offers a good amount of features considering its budget market position. The battery plastic door is located on the left side of the camera, and it is fairly easy to open it up. And it uses GoPro’s SuperPhoto – automatic image processing. SuperPhoto options include HDR (High Dynamic Range), Local Tone Mapping, and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction.Depending on the conditions, SuperPhoto chooses one of these four effects to significantly improve your images.
