As with all things Super-Automatic, it comes down to the level of customization you want. If you’re looking to tweak things as much as possible, including milk foam, then it’s worth spending a couple of hundred dollars more to get the extra functionality of thePicoBaristo. Looks aside, the Anima Prestige performed admirably during my testing. I was more than pleased by the espresso quality on offer, and my latte macchiato milk foam was perfect.

If you're looking for something a little more feature-rich than the Gaggia Anima, take a look at the Anima Prestige. The biggest upgrade? The Animal Prestige comes with an automatic frother and dedicated buttons for cappuccinos and latte macchiatos. The Anima doesn’t have any standout features that aren’t seen on other espresso machines. That’s not what Gaggia is going for with this model. You don't even need to do much cleaning (aside from regular maintenance). For those that say there are other more economical espresso machines out there, they need to try the Gaggia Anima Prestige. Most entry-level machines don’t match the quality of coffee it makes and the features it offers. Again, remember to only adjust the grind settings when the grinder is working.
