About this deal

No specific spoilers; but discusses some points that you might want to read about in the book first.

Parking was not an great issue. There were only the two of us my wife and I, but we think with six it should be a little bit crowdy especially in the kitchen. Chipping Norton is a great place to explore the Cotswolds, we did many places of the National Trust (being member). We had fine eatings in the Fox and the Chequers The outside space is facing out on to the main road , it is enclosed by hedges but there was a lot of traffic noise from the main . Also the garden was starting to get overgrown it had clearly not been attended to recently . The following year, a Lawrence Newall – son of Lawrence Newall of Town House – is shown in ‘Burke’s Landed Gentry’ as ‘Lawrence of Hare Hill’, suggesting that the house was in place. It would have been two-storeys with a frontage similar to that at Town House. It’s very clean and well appointed. Well equipped kitchen and large living room. Extra armchair would be useful for 6 people to be more comfortable. Take a look at this gorgeous two-bedroom holiday home surrounded by open countryside on the cusp of the North York Moors National Park. This immaculate property boasts generous accommodation, beautiful interiors and lots of picture-postcard towns and villages within easy reach. Perfect for couples and small families yearning for a luxury escape to the country.

Thank you for the great recommendation for the Swan Inn and for the comments on how we could improve the property. Manor Cottages Property Owner In relation to the outside space at the front, as you state it is very small and it is felt as it is open to a busy main road, seating out there would generally not be used by guests. There is a bench out the front if guests do wish to sit outside. Property Owner

Firstly thank you for choosing Hare House and we are extremely sorry that the cleanliness was not up to our usual standard. Although, I'm not seeing the same gap in information that a few other reviewers have stated. I think it was made fairly clear what happened at the narrator's school and why she moved to Scotland. There's clearly something mysterious going on with the narrator, and having more focus on that might have answered some of those questions I was left with. Hare Hill House in Littleborough was originally the home of four generations of the Newall family from 1775 until the 1900s, a family which played a significant role in the development of Littleborough as a thriving and important Pennine Township for 14 generations, from 1453 to 1901.Two and a half stars because at least it kept me reading till the end, but I can’t say I really enjoyed this book. It was billed as a modern gothic novel about an unnamed British woman who rents a cottage in Scotland after a mysterious incident causes her to lose her longtime teaching job. She meets the family who owns the grounds and shortly after her arrival, strange things start happening at the cottage and the main estate house. As the story goes on, you learn more about what made the woman lose her job as well as the mysterious past of the people who own the property. Sounds promising, right? In addition, there is a cinema room, study, cloakroom and ancillary accommodation including a kitchen/diner, boot room, laundry room, shower room and stairs down to the games room. Everything we needed was there and you are so close to shops, pubs and restaurants we really couldn’t have asked for more.

There was nothing there, I thought. Nothing but the shadows of the trees,my own imagination. It was only when it moved that I could make it out, the silent hare, turning and loping away into the dark.’ It’s got a lot of interesting themes, including grief and madness, and several jump scares that I thought were well done. In recent yearsthe Newall Heritage Trail was created: an approximate two-mile walk exploring the influence the family had on the development of Littleborough.

Lovely cottage in a great location 1 minute walk from centre of village and 1 minute from park which with kids and dog was perfect." Unfortunately, I really did not like this book. Despite the beautiful prose, it was a slog to get through. The book is slow and I found myself bored several times throughout. A lot of mysterious and witchy things happen, but they never end up getting explained. I’m ok with a few things not being explained but the whole book and how it ended was just super vague. The reveal, if you can call it that, is simply implausible. I don’t like what the reveal suggested because it invalidates a lot of what the reader suspected was happening. And even with my theory of what happened I still have no idea what the hell actually happened. Just a lot of strange instances with no clear cut explanation or reasoning behind it.

Exceptionally comfortable beds. Warm, very well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable stay. Would definitely return.

Henry also formed the Protector Lamp and Lighting Company Ltd., a company which is still in business today and makes the miners’ lamps used in the Olympic torch.
