At the end of their fifth year, students take the Ordinary Wizarding Level ( O.W.L.) examinations for all subjects in which they are enrolled. It is usually referred to simply as "the Forest" and in the film series as the "Dark Forest". It is strictly forbidden to all students, except during Care of Magical Creatures lessons and, on rare occasions, detentions.
