Colours are bright, well balanced, and punchy in HDR Standard mode. Complexions convince and are further refined by Dolby Vision. The kids of Spider-Man: Far From Home have punch and colour to their skin tone and it adds to the Hisense’s attractive picture. The video processing in the Hisense U7QF is powered by the Hi-View Engine which helps with motion and scaling of images. We found the upscaling to be good with only the odd instance of ringing around fine lines in some test patterns, but this was not visible in the vast majority of HD content we viewed.Considering it's one of Hisense’s top-end TVs, there's no getting around the fact that the 55U7QFTUK is a disappointment. The top-left app on the home screen is Netflix, and it’s rather odd that it’s the only app whose position you can’t change. During setup, we were even presented with a prompt to watch Netflix, making it abundantly clear that the dominant TV streaming service had paid a premium to maintain pride of place on 2020 Hisense TVs. The Hisense U7QF is a very good midrange LED LCD that uses Quantum Dot technology and also has Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and HDR10 capabilities along with Dolby Atmos sound onboard. The smart TV system is intuitive and fast with a decent selection of apps as well as Freeview Play and all the UK catch-up services. Gaming input lag is also decent at 17ms but it doesn’t have all the HDMI 2.1 goods for VRR or ALLM. Hisense makes use of a variety of different smart TV platforms, depending on the set you’re watching, including the third-party Roku and Android TV platforms. The U7QF, however, uses a proprietary OS called VIDAA U. Let’s start with the issue that caused the most grief with previous Hisense sets: motion. Initially the U7Q’s motion remained awkward and in Dolby Vision films there was smearing at the slightest of movements. We watch Spider-man Homecoming on 4K Blu-ray, and even small movements are blurry. There’s smearing in action scenes, but the effect is actually worse during close-up shots. Slight movements of a head, the type of which are frequent in any film or TV show, cause this TV issues. It's a trait that was fairly common of cheaper LCD sets a few years ago, but that we haven't seen for quite a while.Assembly of the TV is simple, requiring little more than slotting in the stand and tightening the screws. The stand juts out, and I can imagine would make placement of a soundbar awkward for smaller tables and stands. To wall-mount the set you’ll need a compatible VESA wall-mount. We didn’t have any issues at all with VIDAA which stands up against other providers such as Android. Hisense 50U7QFTUK uses a range of high-end technologies to deliver class-leading image quality. Quantum Dot Colour is closer to the original than ever before, with over a billion realistic colors. Full Array Local attenuation controls individual areas of the screen for darker, lighter contrast, providing excellent contrast. Wide Colour Gamut maximizes the range of colors for greater color diffusion. This TV has a problem with motion when watching 24fps content. Unfortunately, that includes most film and premium TV, whether played from a disc or streamed from a service such as Netflix, or through a media streamer. Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Hisense 50 Inch 50U7QFTUK 4K Ultra HD QLED TV with HDR vs other products in the Televisions category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives.
