About this deal

This highlights, I think, just how much gnarly number crunching you’ve done for this film, whether you’re brainstorming ideas or reverse engineering plot points. Was this a frustrating process for you at all? According to Space.com, the portrayal of what a wormhole would look like is scientifically correct. Rather than a two-dimensional hole in space, it is depicted as a sphere, showing a distorted view of the target galaxy. [73] Marketing [ edit ] Top Grossing Movies That Never Hit #1, The Top 5 Or Top 10*(1982–Present)". Box Office Mojo. Archived from the original on December 31, 2014 . Retrieved December 31, 2014. The movie left an indelible mark on me, and now so has the book. I feel it is futile to summarise the story in its entirety since I would recommend anyone to watch the film first and then proceed to the novel. Greg Keyes has done a remarkable job in preserving the visual essence of the film. Abstract notions of time traveling, navigating cosmic distances, the infinite power of love and survival, human progress and limitations of human ingenuity are all suffused within this one story. Keyes briefly fills in the blanks left by the film, but without giving too much away. He also expounds on characters and situations they are in a manner which stays true to the spirit of this story.

As breath-taking and surreal as the film itself, the novelisation of “Interstellar” brilliantly fuses movie dialogues with its thematic wonderment. I marvelled at how impeccably the movie lines were incorporated within this prose. Since I couldn’t keep the film imagery out of my head whilst reading this, I’m curious as to how those who haven’t seen the film would interpret this line-by-line retelling of the script. How rational is it to risk the future of humankind on the assumption that future scientists will make some unknown discoveries? Most of the presidents, ministers and CEOs who run the world are very rational people. Why are they willing to take such a gamble? Maybe because they don’t think they are gambling on their own personal future. Even if bad comes to worse and science cannot hold off the deluge, engineers could still build a hi-tech Noah’s Ark for the upper caste, while leaving billions of others to drown.Shoard, Catherine (November 10, 2014). Cooper, yes,” Brand conceded, wearily. “The tiniest possibility of seeing Wolf again excites me. But that doesn’t mean I’m wrong.” Combining cutting-edge science, physics, and philosophy, Loeb takes us on a mind-bending journey through the furthest reaches of science, space-time, and the human imagination. Interstellar is an eye-opening, necessary look at our future that proves, once again, that scientific curiosity offers the key to our survival. Fleming, Mike (April 9, 2013). So, for these kinds of far-out proposals, is it fair to say they’re more plausible or even easier in some ways than the notion of wormholes or warp drives? More IMAX cameras were used for Interstellar than for any of Nolan's previous films. To minimize the use of computer-generated imagery (CGI), Nolan had practical locations built, such as the interior of a space shuttle. [27] Van Hoytema retooled an IMAX camera to be hand-held for shooting interior scenes. [9] Some of the film's sequences were shot with an IMAX camera installed in the nose cone of a Learjet. I don't know whether I'll read this book or not, but one thing is for sure: I frigging loved the movie. Like, really, really loved it. The movie is, by far, one of the best I've seen in a lot of time. Interstellar (2014) — International Box Office". Box Office Mojo. Archived from the original on March 29, 2015 . Peer-review, at least in the United States and in Europe, is too strong for there to be any danger of millions or billions of dollars being spent on these things. The technology required for wormholes is so far removed from our current and plausible near-future capabilities that to throw lots of money at it would almost certainly be a total boondoggle. In the near future, somewhere around and after the 2070's, any Earth scenes take place either at Cooper's home or at the secret NASA base, both of which are depicted to be in Colorado.
