About this deal

I’ve been a cheerleader. A corporate executive. A Barbie Doll. A sportscaster. A soap opera vixen. A sideline reporter. A Playboy cover model. A Diamond Diva. A red-carpet correspondent. An investigative journalist. A disrupter. I come from a long line of artists, craftsmen, poets, and musicians. So, it’s not a surprise that the art bug bit me early. But as the daughter of a Chilean immigrant and a Salvation Army social worker, I have always been message-based with my creations. My mom, Lucy Guerrero, was a talented photographer, embroiderer, and macramé artist. She volunteered with The Salvation Army serving the homeless and needy. She died at twenty-nine when I was just eight years old, but I remember her telling me as a little girl, “Guerrero means warrior. You are a warrior. Fight for others!” I took her last name as an adult to honor her memory. Admittedly, I had forgotten about Lisa Guerrero. Her infamous tenure on Monday Night Football was 20 years ago and I can't say as I've watched Inside Edition more than a few times. So why did I buy her autobiography? I love how she didn't shy away from some of the deep and heartbreaking moments she encompassed upon in her life. Lisa is an inspiration to many, and I highly recommend this book to anyone & everyone!

I was part of the reason he’d been arrested and charged with the murder of two-year-old Juliette Geurts. For more than six years, he’d escaped justice. In a few minutes, he’d finally receive it.A major problem with the book is that she only alludes to some major life or career events, failing to give any stories about working on some big TV shows as an actress or alongside famous people. She glosses over a number of highlights while spending way too much time trying to tell us how mistreated she was by men.

Why has it taken so long to find the person responsible for her murder? There were only three adults in the house that night.” Inside Edition isn't really my thing, but I'm definitely interested in memoirs by women who've worked in sports journalism, so I wanted to give Warrior by Lisa Guerrero a try. Guerrero was the celebrity cover model in the January 2006 issue of Playboy magazine, billed on the cover as "The Best Damn Sports Beauty". [10] We found the apartment building where Charyse lived. When she returned from a night shift, I raced up to her car as she opened the door. I wedged my body in between her and the open door. If she decided to drive off, she’d have to take me with her. Mom and I never spoke about what had happened. And maybe if she had lived beyond her twenty-nine years, the incident would have been just one of many stories about my fierce mom. But this moment has become how I remember my mom—beautiful, strong, and larger than life. She wouldn’t let anyone insult her or her family. As we walked out of the store, I was overcome with pride for this woman whom I would lose in less than a year.I liked the book most when Guerrero was detailing her experiences working for the Falcons and then the Patriots. I also was eager to hear how she'd describe her experience on Monday Night Football. And I certainly felt for her when she talked about some of the big, hard things happening in her personal life. But I felt like she skipped over a lot. For example, she doesn't say anything about having been on Sports Gals until she quotes someone else mentioning it. Even then, it feels like a mere footnote -- only getting one paragraph -- when she claims it was the first sports talk show hosted solely by women? Tell us more! Often it felt like the reader was given a pretty broad-strokes view when a closer look at her experiences would have been welcome. When she was sixteen, my mom moved from Santiago, Chile, to Chicago with her parents and four younger siblings. Her dad, Raul Guerrero, was a tailor who designed uniforms for bellmen, pilots, and the Salvation Army. Family legend has it that he sewed a costume for one of the Beatles when they were in Chicago for the Yellow Submarine tour.
