The New Nintendo 2DS XL does not have a removable battery cover nor is the battery pack accessible to the user. Wi-Fi is only necessary for doing things that need the internet, like downloading updates, playing multiple games, and using StreetPass. Though that obviously won't work for DLs until Nintendo gets a Networked ID system up and running in practice, not in name only.It's still my preference for extending the 3DS life when I'm out and about – although the 3DS XL with some power saving options switched on also does the trick.
