years ago Kit vowed to find her sister Wrens killer and she became a Detective to do it, ever since the tragic event along with her foster father they’ve turned over every stone and come up with nothing, they’ve had no new leads on Wrens killer for the past 5 years. The discovery is gruesome just because of the crime, but it quickly gets even worse when the killer's M. There’s a definite connection/attraction between Kit and Sam, but the investigation is the primary focus.I enjoyed the plot, but I feel like it was a slow pitch for the author to set up the San Diego series. Not wanting the blood of innocents on his hands, Sam phones in a tip to Kit—and immediately gets caught up in a whirlwind of investigation, death, and unexpected romance with Kit. This one was interesting because the second main character is both a detective and a suspect and the author takes the reader into what that can feel like, as well. I was so emotionally invested in the characters that I’ll admit I shed a tear when the book had about 15 minutes left, certain events just made my heart full.
