The U3419W is an upgrade from an earlier Editors' Choice model from Dell, the UltraSharp 34 Curved Monitor (U3417W), the main difference being the addition of the USB Type-C port. Some USB devices like external portable HDD require higher electric current; connect the device directly to the computer.
The biggest upgrade the Dell U3419W received is in its I/O layout which now includes USB-C connectivity. For more information on using the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu and different menu options, refer to the Operating Your Monitor section in the User's Guide of your Dell U3419W monitor. Going from left to right there is an AC power connector, security lock slot, two HDMI port connectors, a DisplayPort in connector, USB Type-C port, audio-line out, two USB upstream ports, a USB downstream port, and a USB downstream port with power charging. The curvature isn’t a gimmick: it brings the extreme edges closer and makes the whole screen eminently usable. Your Dell U3419W Monitor provides a self-test feature check that allows you to check whether the monitor is functioning properly. It’s factory calibrated to deliver 99% sRGB out of the box which means you can expect accurate colours for photo and video work, but the sheer amount of desktop real-estate you get with the 21:9 aspect ratio means this can almost replace dual monitors.
To access the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, press Button 3 ( Figure 1) at the bottom of the monitor. If your monitor screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video card (GPU) and computer, because your monitor is functioning properly.
