And it’s noticeable right away that Villeneuve seems to have ditched his apparent previous taste (evidenced by earlier sci-fis Arrival and Blade Runner 2049) for rather muted HDR. Bigger action sequences such as the attack or the sandworm scene utilize every bit of sound from all angles, including human voices, footsteps, the natural elements and, even the alien-like giant worm. The films will be available in Dolby Vision HDR, but Dolby Atmos support depends on how each film was produced.

However, most of this content is made for newbies to the franchise and story as an introduction course into this world, rather than any real big information. Like other Lynch films there is a very aggressive sound design in other areas, with background rattling and low frequency rumblings popping up throughout.
