About this deal

For those adding extra fans or other RGB components, the H5 Elite includes an RGB controller that supports up to three connectors.

When we dug in further and found the specification of the fans made little to no sense it felt like 2019 all over again. Even with additional, larger, fans, the H7 Elite could not best the H7 Flow’s thermal performance, and that fact alone makes us want to see an NZXT H7 Elite Flow model. While NZXT does not include an RGB and fan controller, it would be easy to install an aftermarket solution and create a light show. For testing, I turned to my trusty 3700X, 3070, and 32 GB RAM build combo, with two NVMe drives installed into the motherboard. For the build we used NZXT’s own Kraken X cooler, but it should work for most options on the market. The top also allows for plenty of room to hook in a range of AIO liquid cooler designs of sizes up to 360mm. With the previous H510 Elite and H710i leaving room for improvement, it's time to find out what NZXT is bringing to the table in 2022.

At the bottom of NZXT’s H7 lineup is the standard H7, a model that features a plain front panel design that will be familiar to most NZXT users. While there aren't any RGB LED strips, the included three RGB fans upfront create enough light to shine on internal components. NZXT can fix the H7 with some tweaks that fall far short of an overhaul but right now they still have work to do.

The channels, along with the ample locations for cable ties, make it easy to keep your many power cords and accessories looking clean and well-placed for upgradability and visual look. KitGuru says:The NZXT H7 family has potential, however the performance of the fans and airflow caused your reviewer a fair amount of frustration. Now that we have the differences out of the way, let’s talk about what’s common amongst these new H7 series cases.

I've gone into some detail about the NZXT H7 series refresh in my NZXT H7 Flow review, but the goal NZXT's designers had in mind was to keep the same look but refine the cooling performance. We managed to place a 60mm thick 360mm radiator in place without any major issues, even though the H7 does not officially support radiators of that thickness. Compared to the old H710, the new H7 comes with a new perforated top panel and redesigned front panel for better airflow, as well as improved cable management. It is clearly the best case within NZXT’s H7 lineup, and the H7 and H7 Elite do not even come close from a thermal perspective. This review focuses on the latter, which made for an interesting build experience and, ultimately, proved to be a solid performer that looks great, too.

The showstopper is the H7 Elite which has three RGB fans at the front of the case that provide an impressive lightshow. With the White NZXT H7 Elite case, you will find a crystal-clear glass side panel that looks gorgeous for most modern PC builds. This might seem a little lacking, but with multiple NZXT fans able to daisy-chain off one another, the connector count shouldn’t prove much of a hindrance.
