About this deal

Together with their record company they had commissioned mixes by Todd Terry (who had turned Everything But the Girl's " Missing" into an international club anthem).

Moloko toured in support of the album, opening for Garbage in UK and Ireland in January and February 1999. A It features Moloko vocalist Róisín Murphy dancing alone in a metallic flapper dress, accompanied by psychedelic lighting effects. After Moloko finished the tour, they built a home studio and recorded their second album, titled I Am Not a Doctor, which was released in 1998 in the United Kingdom.

Since the band's disbandment, Murphy has performed several Moloko songs on her solo tours and live performances. In 2016, Moloko digitally reissued their remixes on the compilation All Back To the Mine, split into two volumes and comprising a total of 68 tracks. The song experienced chart success after it was remixed by DJ Boris Dlugosch, peaking at number four in the UK in September 1999.Murphy had started writing the lyrics while clubbing in New York City, [3] and knew the song was at heart a dance track, but the group wanted to record it in a different artistic fashion for its album version. Brydon and Murphy ended their romantic relationship in 2002, just before they began work on the album. Heather Phares of AllMusic described the sound of their debut album similar to that of Portishead and Massive Attack with elements of dance, funk, and trip hop, while noting the group had "a sense of humour and sass unique to Moloko. Sing It Back" is a song written and performed by Irish-English electronic music duo Moloko ( Róisín Murphy and Mark Brydon).

It first appeared in its original version on Moloko's second album, I Am Not a Doctor (1998); it was released as a single on 8 March 1999, reaching number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. Blending elements of electronica and dance music, they are best known for their UK top 10 singles " The Time Is Now" (2000) and " Familiar Feeling" (2003), as well as the 1999 Boris Dlugosch remix of " Sing It Back" which became an international hit. Their 2003 album Statues produced two hit singles, " Familiar Feeling", which reached number ten in the UK, and " Forever More", which reached number 17.

On 'Sing It Back', she's cast as Eartha Kitt, all unquenchable lust, sly, coquettish snarls, a luxuriant, lingering sigh. Though the album was unsuccessful, reaching only number 64 in the UK Albums Chart, a Boris Dlugosch remix of " Sing It Back", the third single from the album that originally failed to reach the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart, was a huge hit, reaching number four in the UK chart and number one in the US Dance Chart. In 2012 Andy Caldwell and Michael Teixeira collaborated on a cover, featuring vocals by Lisa Donnelly.

Murphy had no prior professional singing experience when Moloko was formed, [1] while Brydon had previously worked on music as a producer with musicians such as Boy George and Cabaret Voltaire on releases from the 1990s.Moloko's music has been described as alternative dance, [1] dance-pop, [1] experimental pop, [19] dance-punk [20] and electropop. As a form of barter for the remix, Moloko vocalist Róisín Murphy later co-wrote and appeared on Dlugosch's " Never Enough" single, starring in the video for that release as well. It was later made available on Moloko's official YouTube channel in 2016 and by June 2023, the video had generated more than 28. Following the disbandment, both Murphy and Brydon began solo careers, with the former releasing her first solo album, Ruby Blue, in 2005. Australian music channel Max placed it at number 887 in their list of "1000 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2012.
