About this deal

She seems to go out of her way to make a plan based around good health and nutrition sound like scammy crash diet program, and also implies that if you want to lose weight you hate how you look right now and that thin=fabulous. Whether recommending apps, examining exercise that's right for you, or discussing diets and why they tend not to work - Smith maintains a neutral and knowledgeable source of excellent insight. Along with the daily meal plan, she has testimonials, workout options and references tons of medical studies.

I obviously agree with Smith that changes are always possible, and you should certainly work towards them when you identify an area in your life that you're not happy with.

Anyway, so I followed him for a while, and then I joined his academy, and was rocking it, but I'm a lazy wagon-falling bitch and so this is my kickstart to get back on that freaking wagon and ride it into the sunset. If you want a book that is going to get you annoyed and if you want to learn nothing but hear about how good this guy thinks he is then this is the book for you. Readers will finish Not a Diet Book, equiped with the knowledge they need to not only embrace a healthier and more balanced relationship with food and exercise, but too with the tools for success to excel in all areas of their life.

My personal view is it is a helpful, informative good read that would ultimately benefit from a deficit of James. I actually tend to have two books on the go at any given time – and usually gravitate more towards reading non-fiction in the early hours of the morning, and novels before I go to bed. I can, however, imagine this book resonating well with readers who enjoy listening to motivational speakers. Just a solid understanding that people need to live their lives and an approach that lets them take more control over their own life without being dragged in by marketing, spin or bullshit. This isn't another gimmicky diet--it's a powerful eating strategy that will take your extra pounds off quickly, safely, and permanently. The upshot is I believe it would work and the recipes are tasty but at this time, not worth it to me. Being that I read a handful of the books James cites and whose lessons were paraphrased here (and often) some parts seem like collections of other peoples anecdotes. Having had no prior knowledge of his style or personality I approached the read with a skeptical yet open mind.

I think I will need to keep the book on hand to re-read sections when my motivation is lacking, but currently I’ve done a complete 180! Dr Kellyann focuses on shrinking the window of time you eat, filling up on bone broth and collagen while eating clean healthy meals. There’s not a single new information, you can find everything he mentions in any random PT’s caption on Instagram.I am more a fan of diet books that help you live a healthier lifestyle and this book was more about a quick fix to loose some weight. His views on relationships are ill thought out and potentially dangerous, encouraging ppl to leave relationships as you have to look after no1. But I myself lost 5 pounds, and was very happy to do so without experiencing hypoglycemia or cravings.
