There is no acknowledgement of the events of The Adventures of Puss In Boots, including Dulcinea, who is conspicuously absent, despite heading out with Puss at the end of the series. Once again, debonair outlaw Puss in Boots – a sort of cleaned-up southern European version of Jack Sparrow – is having sword-twirling adventures, again in the company of his paramour Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek); but now PiB must confront his own mortality, having used up eight of his nine lives. Later, it was confirmed that The Croods: A New Age director Joel Crawford was replacing Persichetti as director.

This release of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish comes with over an hour of bonus content for fans to enjoy. IN THE BEGINNING– Go behind the scenes with the filmmakers of PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH to discover how they brought this great tale to life.Various shots and alternate versions of scenes shown in the first and second trailers also went unused. Shrek, Donkey and Mister Geppetto appear in non-speaking appearances via brief flashbacks, as does Imelda from the first Puss in Boots [1]. But how bland and forgettable this film is, without in the smallest way harnessing the real performing power of Banderas, Colman, Pugh, Winstone et al. As the dimension morphs, Puss is accidentally trapped in the Cave of Lost Souls after touching the map and instructs Kitty to retrieve Perrito. In the aftermath, Goldi finally accepts being a part of the bear family and Puss and Kitty rekindle their relationship.

While riding downstream, Puss gets his beard shaved off by Kitty before getting rid of a stick which Perrito follows, leading to the latter being captured by Jack. This is the second DreamWorks Animation film to be directed by Joel Crawford after The Croods: A New Age. Two months later, Banderas said in an interview that the script was under restructuring, and that Shrek may appear in the film. Meanwhile, Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Ray Winstone (Black Widow) and Samson Kayo (Sliced) play Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear respectively, while there are also roles for Wagner Moura (Narcos), Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin), John Mulaney (Big Mouth), and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Trolls). It was most likely cut for being too goofy for the movie, though some have said the scene was made for the trailer so as not to spoil the Gingy cameo for theatergoers.
