About this deal

Cars, planes, boats, helicopters – you name it, Super Van City has an appropriate piece of scenery for pretty much anything in your collection. Hasbro re-introduced this line in 2015 for a few years due to the renewed interest in Star Wars toys. These cars felt like the future when they arrived; the colour schemes made even the more standard models feel unique too.

For a playset that didn’t have much space to work with, the Star Destroyer playset knocked it out of the park. The torture chamber, the carbonite chamber, the Ugnaughts’ incinerator — it was all here in a smaller scale. During the entire run of the Star Wars Micro Machines toy line, there were two Jabba’s Palace playsets.

What could be cooler than a whole lorry that folds down out into a whole city for you to explore with your stunt cars? While this playset may not have the spongy “muck” of the original, Galoob more than made up for it by retaining Yoda’s hut and the Dark Side Cave while adding the Dragonsnake Bog — complete with a dragonsnake that can actually spit out the set’s included R2-D2 figurine; not to mention that the lever on the playset let one recreate the scene from the movie when Luke Skywalker raises his submerged X-Wing from the bog’s depths.

Star Wars Micro/Mini Figures A Guide to Scales for Star Wars Micro/Mini Figures

Slightly larger than standard sized Micro Machines, the Radicator collection featured cars in bright, bold and very 90s colour schemes. None could compare to the might of Star Wars, which never met a licensing or merchandising opportunity it couldn’t make its own and absolutely dominate. And regarding size constraints, the designers pulled off a pretty nice-looking command bridge even if it has been scaled down considerably. Despite revealing that your vehicles are – unsurprisingly – just empty plastic shells, rather than intricate and functional machinery, for the most part, these Micro Machines really did look and feel awesome. Despite first arriving in 1991, newer, upgraded versions of Super Van City even exist today – the one we have pictured is from 2020!It was a really neat concept, with a surprisingly large range of vehicles and scenes released, that truly brought these tiny little cars to life. After dominating toy aisles and coveted Saturday morning commercial time throughout the late ’70s and mid-’80s, demand for Kenner’s line of Star Wars action figures and vehicles ground to a screeching halt and quickly fell out of favor despite numerous attempts to jumpstart the toyline with new characters and background stories. Micro Machines Shake and Sniff are a bit like that: a range of trucks with small holes in their trailers. Right off the bat, this playset should definitely evoke memories from those that owned the original Dagobah playset from Kenner’s The Empire Strikes Back series of toys. Notably the line included the E-Wing fighter from the Star Wars: Dark Empire saga and the Virago from Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire; the only Expanded Universe vehicles produced for this line.
