About this deal

The upcoming run will focus on the lives of the royal family throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, and will not feature or address Prince Andrew's friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The fourth series was dominated by Diana's crumbling marriage to Charles and the Princess is likely to be the center of the drama in the forthcoming fifth series, with her infamous 1995 interview with Martin Bashir set to be recreated. The ensuing divorce process becomes quite heated and so the Queen asks the Prime Minister, John Major, to act as an intermediary between the two warring parties. He won a general election in 1992, but his Conservative government attracted criticism for its role in "Black Wednesday" when a collapse in the pound sterling forced Britain to withdraw from the European exchange rate mechanism. The Crown DVD follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century. Diana upstages him on the night of the premiere by attending an event in an outfit dubbed by the media as a " revenge dress".After the fall of communism and the collapse of the USSR, the new President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, comes to Britain on an official visit. The Trainspotting and Elementary star will play the British prime minister, who was elected in 1990. Netflix updated both the series description and the season five trailer caption on YouTube to refer to the series as a "fictional dramatization".Netflix also recently released the first image of Staunton as the British monarch, with the show's official Twitter account saying: "An early glimpse of our new Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton. I was initially unsure about the two leads as Charles and Diana this time round, because Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor were superb in their roles – Ms Corrin especially, and this time round, they’re played by Dominic West ( Tomb Raider) and Elizabeth Debicki ( Tenet), but both have the mannerisms down brilliantly. Jonathan Pryce takes up the baton after Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies wowed fans with their performances as the late Duke of Edinburgh. According to The Mirror, Natascha McElhone ( Californication, Designated Survivor) is playing Penny Knatchbull, one of Prince Philip's close friends who was one of a small group present at his funeral this year. And I’m sure by the time we get to the end of the ’90s, we’ll know who had the worst “annus horribilis”.
