Description

They have little or no idea of what awaits them outside, but she treats them with kindness and respect.

I feel that this book could have done so much more to raise awareness for the issues surrounding women in prison and then on their release. I got this because the first book, The Prison Doctor was hype and not very good at all and sadly, this is the same.

Overall I enjoyed it and it did make me cry at the end but there was nowhere as much meat to it compared to the previous two novels. In this memoir, Amanda reveals the stories, the patients and the cases that have shaped a career helping those most of us would rather forget.

She came across as arrogant and self centred but also a bit lick ass-y when talking about some people. I think if you don't know a lot about jails/prisons this would be a super interesting read, however as it's something I like to think I know a lot about it just felt a bit repetitive in some parts. As a GP who’d lived near her surgery and frequently made home visits, Brown’s life had always been entwined with those of her patients.

Knygoje gydytoja dalinasi darbo kalėjime kasdienybe, su tuo susijusiais iššūkiais ir labiausiai palietusiomis kalinių gyvenimo istorijomis.
