About this deal

The hair on my head was unruly and frizzy, and I was constantly trying to tame it with mousse, an iron (flat irons weren’t a thing yet), or a helmet of hairspray.

The Veet Easy Wax promised to deliver salon results at home so we’ll see how this adult newbie gets on. To use the Easy Wax Roll-On Kit, you just have to put the wax refill into the device, plug it into the mains (so no expensive batteries) and leave it for about twenty minutes, until the wax has melted. During the winter, most of us occasionally skip shaving and cover up with opaque tights or cozy pants. An all in one device that heats the wax, and also works as the applicator to make for smooth, even coverage. It’s recommended that you remove the wax as quickly as possible to get the best results, so after standing my handset back on the base I pressed a strip ontop of the wax, rubbing the back of it with my hand to ensure it was well stuck, then held the lowest part of the strip, took a deep breath and whipped it quickly upwards towards my knee.I’d left my leg hair a few weeks to get it to just over 1cm and it was the ideal length to catch in the wax and come out easily. My legs feel amazing right now, they’re speckled red from the follicles being open, just like at a salon, but there’s not a hair in sight. As a rule, you want to angle the applicator so that the entire surface of the rolling head comes into contact with your skin as you apply it.

For the best results, it helps to exfoliate the day before, wash the area with warm water and dry it carefully immediately before waxing. Granted I wasn’t the most logical waxer, as my placement of wax was a little sporadic to start with, so I ended up finishing by going over odd triangular patches that I’d missed. The wax is a pretty bright pink colour so that you can see where you’ve been and it feels warm and lovely on the skin. By the time I got to the second leg I waxed my legs in straight lines from one point all of the way back round and it was far quicker and efficient. From that point on I could hardly contain my excitement as I stuck, rubbed, whipped and stripped both of my lower legs.

I have to admit I was nervous as anything about doing the first strip because my first and only experience of home waxing as a teen left me petrified, and since then I’ve only ever been waxed at a salon, but not very often as I mostly shave. As per the instructions, there is a handy red light that illuminates when the wax is actively heating. So, it’s recommended that you avoid wearing tight clothes over the waxed areas, at least for a short while. I was pleasantly surprised when my legs weren’t left feeling sticky; I didn’t need to use a perfect finish wipe, so I decided to save them for future use.

Use the provided perfect finish wipes to get rid of any excess wax, although if you’ve run out of these you can use baby oil and a cotton swab. The kit comes with a handset, one 50ml roll-on wax refill, twelve non-woven strips, four depilatory wipes in individual sachets, a base to hold the handset, a mains supply, instruction leaflet and two year guarantee. If you’re looking for a neat and tidy system of hair removal, wax is never the first option that comes to mind. The great thing about this system is that it keeps the wax warm, so you don’t have to keep reheating and dealing with wax that’s too hot or too cold.
