Meanwhile, it has a good rubber base that's pretty great at keeping it in place as well as reinforced edge stitching that ensures minimal fraying. Because it's also made of polyester military-grade fabric, you know that this will last you a good while.

The rubber base is mostly effective at keeping things in place, but we do wish it had a better grip on a desk. It does move a little when you're gliding more vigorously, like during intense gameplay. That said, if you're not playing too hard, it should hold it position just fine. It's not easy assigning value to a piece of cloth, but someone's got to do it. When we receive a new mouse pad to test, we do what we do best: Play lots and lots of PC games. The micro-texture cloth surface here is optimized for all sensitivity settings and sensors. And, it did feel great to game on during our testing, offering smooth and speedy gliding. Meanwhile, its non-slip rubber base keeps it in place. Though that should also have something to do with the fact that it's massive and that other peripherals like a gaming keyboard should act as weights. While most gaming mouse pads deliver that good balance between smooth gliding and precision control, this offering from HyperX focuses on the latter. More of a deskOnce we've got a feel for how a particular mouse pad feels underhand, we play a couple more games to get a feel for things. After that, if we like how it looks and is built to last rigorous gaming, it gets a thumbs up. If not, it's a thumbs down, and it's tossed on the great mouse pad fire raging since '85.

With productivity mice, however, we found that it works beautifully. The smooth gliding combined with its good amount of friction allows you a more seamless workflow – instead of having to constantly miss a button you're trying to press onscreen. Its anti-skid natural rubber base also does a great job of keeping it in place. Plus, its edges are stitched to ensure it lasts longer and minimizes fraying.A competitive gaming mouse pad needs to have less resistance than all others, and that's exactly what the Roccat Sense Pro offers. It's not too textured that it requires a massive adjustment on your part, but we have found its surface to be just slightly less smooth to glide over. But, that's also the exact point – it's that textured finish that allows for fast, agile movements that are ideal for competitive gaming.

There are two sizes on hand – the square one that gives you a spacious 450 x 450 mm surface area and the XXL size that offers a massive 900 x 420 mm space. The square one, we've found, is more than good enough, but if you want to home all your peripherals, the bigger version is affordable and worth considering. Unlike their cloth counterparts that all use very similar textiles, hard mousepads are made from a wide variety of components and blends, including aluminum, plastic, and rubber. They vary dramatically in friction, weight, and design, so there is sure to be a hard mouse pad out there that is perfect for you. For us, the simplicity and ultra-smooth surface of the Logitech G440 make it our top choice when considering speed.

In our view, this is a more helpful solution than a chunky gel wrist pad, but if you do want to get a full wrist rest, our recommendation would be to buy a standalone one, not a built-in solution (Razer makes a good Ergonomic Mouse Rest if this is the route you want to take). The dimensions vary with each different manufacturer and model but often XXL mousepads are twice as wide as they are long. This offers you so much more space compared to a standard-sized mouse mat. Why You Need an XXL Mousepad: As XXL mouse mats are constructed from only high-quality materials with durable stitched edges and often feature a rubberised base, they will remain firmly in place, no matter how aggressive your gameplay gets. What’s more, an XXL mouse pad offers a layer of protection for your desk or table. You no longer have to worry about any accidental spills or scratches. The MM100 is your regular, modern mouse pad style for gaming. It's not too small, not too big. Just right for generally big mouse movements. If you really want to crank down your DPI and go for full elbow-length swings of your mouse, you'll probably want something bigger than this that takes up the entire desk.
