Description

Ocado always has a good selection of Easter eggs, many of which are gluten free. They also have a good selection of dairy free including some more luxurious eggs from the like of Booja booja that you would not find in supermarkets. This list is by no means exhaustive but contains most of the major supermarket and named brands I could find on the shelves.

Morrisons had a good selection of branded Easter eggs but disappointingly most of their own brand Easter eggs this year are may contain or contain gluten. Recipes can change and vary at the drop of a hat so you should always be on the safe side when trying to find ones that are gluten free. I've swept the supermarket shelves of Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose to find all the Easter eggs which are gluten free. Most plain chocolate eggs are free from gluten but sadly some have 'may contain' warnings which mean they are not coeliac-safe.The unhealthiest Easter eggs on supermarket shelves have been revealed - and the ten most calorific eggs contain even MORE than one person's recommended daily intake. Beware of some of the vegan eggs that contain gluten free oat milk. Whilst you might see gluten free oat milk and think they are safe, they in fact are actually ‘may contain gluten’ so are still unsafe. There’s a small Milkybar Easter egg in this post that’s gluten-free. However, many other Milkybar eggs in other sizes are often NOT gluten-free.

Meanwhile, the Kinder Surprise Giant Egg, which is smaller than the top ten eggs at 200g, was the best in the higher price point for calories, containing 1,276. This was followed by the Galaxy Caramel Chocolate Truffle Egg 296g, at 1,518, and Maltesers White Chocolate Egg with White Truffles 287g, at 1,530 calories.Or drop me a comment at the bottom of this blog post and I can add them to this list! Aldi's free from Easter eggs Gluten Free Easter Eggs As I mentioned, most of these are down the seasonal Easter aisle so it can be a literal Easter egg hunt to find the right ones. So make sure you allow yourself enough time to make sure you’ve got the ones pictured which are safe for us to eat. There’s a Cadbury’s Caramel Egg in this post that’s gluten-free. BUT other Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Caramel eggs (which come with a bar and have the extra text ‘Dairy Milk’ on the front) are NOT gluten-free.

Important note: In 2022 the Mini Eggs Bar was gluten free, but now (2023) it has a 'may contain' warning and is NOT suitable for people with coeliac disease) Looking exclusively at the bigger eggs on offer, Alertr's research found the following 10 to be the most calorific Easter Eggs on supermarket shelves: There are Aero Peppermint Eggs in this post that are gluten-free. But there are other Aero Easter egg variations which are NOT gluten-free. I've broken this blog post into two sections for ease: Gluten Free Easter Eggsand Gluten and Dairy Free Easter Eggs. There’s actually a lot to choose from, including some more exotic options like the Booja-Booja eggs. I’ll let you discover the price of those for yourself though… just make sure you’re sitting down first!
