Description

She trained for the stage at RADA and worked with the National theatre and RSC before becoming a television actress. Sir William Benedict is left with no choice but to exact revenge on those who have sabotaged his dreams…and Justin Chalmers and his sister Laura are about to discover just how dark revenge can be when exacted by a man who has nothing left. This should be scandalous, but seems very realistic, as is the reaction of Jane’s superior officer who has come up against the Catholic Church before.

The seeming conclusion of this case results in Jane getting her chance to prove herself in CID in a new station based in Bow Street and a reunion with one of her old colleagues from Hackney and her first case, an apparent suicide. Still reeling from the death of her fiance, Detective Anna Travis has thrown herself into her new role as the chief inspector for London's murder squad. In 2001 she co-produced The Warden (2001 TNT), starring Ally Sheedy, a variation of La Plante's series The Governor.

I would definitely recommend all of the Tennison series, for great storylines and the fascination of watching such a successful woman taking her first steps into the police force. While her more experienced colleagues move on swiftly from one criminal case to another, Jane is often left doubting their methods and findings. I was interested in the gender politics of the series, the way male officers would deride and try to undermine Tennison was shocking.

When an eccentric elderly widow claims she is being stalked, Detective Jack Warr is the only person willing to dig into the truth, but he soon finds himself embroiled in an international drugs operation, art theft – and a murder investigation. Recently sent to prison for burglary, he knows that his four year sentence means that he will miss the birth of his first child. After this turning point in her life, Lynda signed her first book-deal with Pan MacMillan, who helped her publish her very first novel, The Legacy, in 1987.She worked with the National Theatre, and appeared in The Gentle Touch, Out, and Minder, as well as in Rentaghost, a British children's television series, before turning to scriptwriting. In 2001, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) gave her the Dennis Potter Award for television writing. She then turned to writing – and made her breakthrough with the phenomenally successful TV series Widows. The unmissable brand new Detective Jack Warr thriller from the Queen of Crime Drama, Lynda La Plante - now available in paperback, eBook and audiobook. The heiress of an immense family fortune, she keeps the secret to the horror which once occurred with.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.Blake Brooks, Brand and Marketing Manager at Bonnier Books UK, promised, “Lynda La Plante is writing at the top of her game, and Vanished is a masterclass.

This novel finds Jane as DS Tennison and embroiled in the case of a body found on a building society, in a coffin. Fabulously wealthy entrepreneur Sir William Benedict has always dreamed of being accepted amongst society's elite, despite his working class roots. Before Prime Suspect there was Tennison - this was her storyIn the race to stop a deadly attack just pray she's not too late . La Plante was also executive producer on Daniel Petrie Jnr's adaptation of her show Framed (2002 TNT) which starred Sam Neill and Rob Lowe. Books penned by Lynda La Plante include: The Legacy, The Talisman, Bella Mafia, Entwined, Cold Shoulder, Cold Blood, Cold Heart, Sleeping Cruelty, Royal Flush, Above Suspicion, The Red Dahlia, Clean Cut, Deadly Intent and Silent Scream, Blind Fury (this entered the UK Sunday Times Bestsellers List at number 1 having sold 9,500 copies in its first two weeks), Blood Line, Backlash, Wrongful Death, and Twisted, which have all been international best-sellers.Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libelous. The story of what has transpired in the old convent is harrowing, but believable and the author explores what happens when an institution cares more about it’s reputation than the truth. At the start of this book she’s about to begin her secondment to CID when they approach her early, asking her to join them then, as it turns out they need a female for an undercover assignment and Jane fits the bill. Lorraine Page is left to figure out if she wants to come forward with the fact that she, herself, witnessed the attempted murder of the victim who escaped. In that time the company has produced a stunning slate of innovative dramas with proven success and enduring international appeal.
