Description

A natural charcoal filter that upgrades any standard bottle into a ‘filter bottle’ using a traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal method for cleaner tasting water. From the successful Charcoal Filter Range by Black+Blum, Binchotan active charcoal is used to filter water by absorbing impurities such as chlorine. After using charcoal as a water filter for 2 months you can reuse it in the home for a further 6 to 12 months. Revered in Japan since the Edo Period, binchotan is a premium activated charcoal that serves as a natural air and water purifier. After this cooling process, the surface will become hard and smooth and if you tap, it will make a metallic sound.

If you break it up and put it in your house plants, it will add nutrients to the soil that will help the plant to grow. Lashbrook found charcoal lacking in other arenas too; in toothpaste and whiteners, it can even scrape off enamel and damage your teeth.See our full line of binchotan products here, and learn how binchotan is made in the Rikumo Journal. To keep this a minimal waste item, the charcoal sticks are currently wrapped in tissue paper without the cardboard directions, so please read below.

So when I read about Binchōtan as a way to purify water, I thought it might be the perfect solution.

Due to the fact that the stick is an organic element, it is possible that the charcoal breaks (inside the vacuumed pack). The charcoal is burned at extremely high temperatures (around 2,400 °F) and then it is rapidly cooled. The surface of the charcoal is full of tiny holes, which draw in contaminants like chlorine and bind them, away from the water you drink.

Charcoal filters are used on a large scale in wastewater treatment too, which makes sense: It’s genuinely good at sucking up poison, whether in stomachs or communal water systems. Want filtered water at the lowest rate without plumbing or recycling problems, then our Charcoal Water Filter stick is the answer. I think it would help adding a bit extra paper as cushioning, so they wouldn’t brake while in transportation.Architectural Digest may earn a portion of sales from products that are purchased through our site as part of our Affiliate Partnerships with retailers. A simple and natural method to filter your tap water, the charcoal filters out chlorine, chloramines and other impurities.
