About this deal

The driver will input your year of birth into their device and may then require an ID check to complete the age verification process. Now they may enjoy a break as he uses the written word to bring that enthusiasm onto a wider audience.

Even better is that I had a sample of a 1980’s bottle of Black Bush (although bottled at 43% so probably for the export markets) that I had purchased off Val from the Waterford Whiskey Society. Definitely going to make sure I always have this on hand as it's a great (and inexpensive) option for every day drinking.

From the house of Bushmills from Great Britain pours with this Bushmills Black Bush Irish Whiskey a tasty whiskey - whiskey in the sparkling glass and immediately bewitches the eye of inclined spirits lovers*innen with expressive golden yellow color. Black Bush Irish Whiskey combines an exceptionally high amount of malt whiskey married with a lighter grain whiskey and then matured in former Oloroso Sherry and Bourbon casks. A classic Speyside offering, Glenfiddich’s 12 Year Old blend spends time in both American and European oak casks, developing a truly distinguished flavour.

This unmatched Irish malt is at the heart of all Bushmills Irish Whiskeys and creates a unique combination of smoothness and richness Aged in Oloroso sherry casks giving Black Bush rich fruity notes and a deep intense character A blend with a very high proportion of malt whiskey for a smooth taste and a long finish. The north coast of Ireland pulls in huge crowds of tourists every year and I dare say a lot of them visit Bushmills distillery while visiting this part of the world. That first ever visit to Bushmills, was around 9 years prior to the still house experience I mentioned. The flavour is smooth and sweet on the palate with the woody and vanilla notes coming together strongly and a hint of sweet honey coming in. First neck pour left me wondering if it had anymore to offer, but a few drams in (and some resting time in between the daily sampling), I am able to confirm that the whiskey has opened up.

It’s the smell of a particular whiskey that brings back a memorable moment to me that I feel it’s worth sharing.More dark fruit notes than fresh fruit – sweet dates, fig rolls, California raisins, muscovado sugar, sawn oak and leather. The flavour is creamy and full-bodied, zesty on the palate with orange and lime notes and then oaky tobacco comes through, enjoyable and warm. Then we get dark baking fruit of dates and raisins with milk chocolate, some roast coffee beans, dried ginger and malt. It’s an easy drinking, versatile whiskey that can be enjoyed neat, over ice or with your favourite mixer.

Young and sprightly, Patron Silver is the youngest of their tequilas and its flavour reflects its youth. We were lucky on that day to see first-hand a spirit run in full flow, but any other day it would have been ‘here are the pot stills… moving on’.You also have the option to have a message handwritten on the gift tag at no additional cost, perfect when sending your gift directly to someone.
