About this deal

Alfie is the future king, he's clumsy and wants a normal life, Alfie thinks his twin brother Richard is better suited for the job, a thought shared by the majority of the people. Questo è il secondo libro di quella che spero diventi una saga: è una storia avvincente non solo per ragazzi, ma per chiunque apprezzi i colpi di scena e il sottile humour tipicamente british del quale gli autori sanno fare nuon uso.

For children, this story is fast, exciting and funny and for adults it is full of entertaining content.Like Ned’s Circus of Marvels, and Harry Potter, Defender of the Realm uses the old myths to give Britain its hidden past. While I occasionally find the swap from one person's point of view to another mid-chapter jarring, it served its purpose here better than I have seen previously. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about the original Land Rover Defender is British engineering and the new Defender is no different. Alfie is resilient, stubborn and tougher than he looks, the product of all the setbacks he’s faced in life including the divorce of his parents and the death of his father. This is a fun fantasy story but it raises some interesting questions about the British Monarchy's relevance to Britain and the somewhat antagonistic relationship they have with their subjects in the 21st Century.

Fortunately, it was definitely worth the wait as it proves to be another thrilling and dramatic adventure guaranteed to enthral and entertain the reader. I was surprised as it was parked next to some supercars, but apparently the Defender got all the attention. An ordinary girl, Hayley Hicks, finds herself fighting alongside Alfie in a desperate struggle to stop a fearsome new enemy, the Black Dragon.

Flawed, in over his head, but doing his best through circumstances he can't control is my favorite type of hero. I have also seen some amazing images online of the commercial vehicles the Defender will be coming out with, and I think this is going to be another slam dunk for the British brand. Undoubtedly one of the most exciting and compelling action stories I have read this year, superb storytelling that mixes real life and fantasy brilliantly.

And when the evil Black Lizard seems unstoppable Alfie has to learn to protect his country, be King and be The Defender, but is Alfie the right person for the job? The cliff-hanging ending has me on tenterhooks, wanting to know precisely what’s going to happen next. The other reads like another side character who occasionally gets to tell you what's going on in her head. Meanwhile, Hayley, a fellow twelve-year-old, discovers a piece of the Black Dragon's tail at the Tower of London.

Reluctant newly crowned king, Alfie, finds himself learning about the Defender, skills of a super power, to defend England of the evil Black Dragon. The Black Dragon killed Alfie's father in a battle at Stonehenge; the dragon's power and strength has increased due to finding parts of the ancient crown. The main theme is responsibility, and the core message is about the difference between having superpowers and being a hero. I always thought the modern British royalty was essentially useless, but this fantasy makes me see how it could be different - British monarch as superhero!

After the great battle at King Alfie’s coronation, the nation thinks it’s seen the last of the Black Dragon, and Alfie gets busy learning what it means to fill his father’s shoes. Here they witness a violent attack from an other-worldly creature like a giant lizard, who defeats the UK’s superhero protector known as the Defender of the Realm. Alfie inherits some seriously cool super weapons which date to the dawn of time, but Hayley makes his job easier with a webcam and microphone. Alfie must quickly grow into the King the country needs, or who knows what will be left of the country?

With the help of his twin brother Richard (younger by 10 seconds), his history professor, and bodyguard Alfie learns what it means to take on his two new roles. Just having defeated the Black Dragon at his coronation, Alfie is trying to focus on making less of a fool of himself in his day job, something the Prime Minister is keen to encourage as much as possible, when a new threat hits the Kingdom. The writing is neat, there is some 'hard' part, and I kinda hate reading that part, but goes past that, it successfully able to kept me occupied reading it. I thought this was an unusual, cool and intriguing concept and I can`t think of anything especially similar to this.
