The ADAPTIL ® Diffuser will be fully functioning within 24 hours of plugging in. The effect on the dog will depend on the nature, extent and duration of the problem for which ADAPTIL ® is used.

To adapt to a new environment or coping with a temporary challenge is potentially stressful for most dogs. In some dogs, mild fears and worries can develop into phobias or stress-related conditions.Calming Caps. Dog calming caps offer a slight variation on the classic compression garment – these head caps are designed to fit snuggly around your dog’s head and ears, providing gentle compression while also dampening sounds that can trigger reactive dogs. I have a diffuser plugged in my house. But now, I’m pregnant. Is this dangerous? Should I stop using it? ADAPTIL Calm provides your dog with this appeasing pheromone, which you cannot release yourself: it contributes to their well-being, helps them adapt to stressful situations, and provides calm for dogs. Air fresheners and strong odors can bother pets (or even stress them) due to their heightened sensitivity to smells. It is recommended to remove any strong home fragrance before plugging in an ADAPTIL ® Diffuser as it may restrict the pheromone detection by your pet. In addition to the pheromone content, ADAPTIL ® contains a paraffin-type mineral oil of a kind common to other air freshener devices. If you consider yourself to be particularly sensitive, or have had problems when using similar devices in the past, then we advise you to use the device only after consulting your physician or use ADAPTIL ® Collar or Spray as an alternative.

Do not insert or remove the device with wet hands. When plugged in do not touch the device with metal objects or wet hands. Please get in touch with one of our technical advisors to discuss the behaviours you are concerned about. New diffusers may smell slightly for the first 24 hours, just as an electrical heater might when dust has collected on it. Diffusers in a very dusty environment may smell more persistently. Make sure that a dog or cat has not urinated onto the device and that there is no debris on the heating element. If the device is used continuously for long periods of time, we recommend that it is changed every 6 months or every 6 refills. Canine anxiety is more common than you’d think, with most dogs experiencing it at least once in life.There are a plethora of options for easing canine anxiety, including all-natural and medicated relief. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to canine anxiety, as every dog is unique, and your pup may need more or less intervention than others. Barking is the way your dog has decided to communicate they are not happy being left home alone. Training your dog gradually to be comfortable when home alone should naturally reduce/stop the barking. Calming collars. Like the Adaptil, calming collars use synthetic pheromones to soothe doggos. Instead of dispersing them via a diffuser, they’re concentrated around a thin collar you place on your dog in addition to her usual collar or harness. These seek to calm your pet wherever she goes, indoors or out, making them attractive choices for pup parents on the go. Sometimes calming scents like lavender are used in place of synthetic pheromones, but these appear to be less effective. One to two weeks prior to the expected event plug an ADAPTIL ® Diffuser in the room where your dog spends the most time or where the dog retreats to during firework exposure. The longer your dog is exposed to the pheromone prior to the fireworks, the better prepared he will be to cope with the challenge. ADAPTIL ® contains D.A.P. ® and is therefore recommended for preventing and reducing stress related behavior in puppies and adult dogs.
