About this deal

I found myself completely charmed by this story and that's a multi-level surprise because both of its main weaknesses are pretty clear either up front or really early. The most obvious is that a modern marriage of convenience is going to be at least a little bit contrived. I mean, there aren't a lot of reasons someone can be compelled to marry that make sense, particularly when your hero is a very self-sufficient business mogul and supreme alpha-type male. And Dane is on the extreme end of that spectrum. Being compelled for any reason isn't going to be an easy sell with his character. Nora Murphy creates a raw and a revealing journey into the lives of two separate women who bear the imprint of coercive control in their marriages. Neither even knew of each other's existence much less the awareness that they seemed to be living parallel lives. And like all things in the Universe, paths will transect when all the stars are aligned. This was my first Nicci French novel and unfortunately it was not a success. Future readers, if you are okay with preposterous and illogical plots then you'll have a better time than I did. 2 stars!

Emily does this, but when she tells Kathy that Tom is awesome and they had sex all night, their friendship suffers, as does Kathy's marriage. Kathy becomes even more distracted, and regularly tries to seduce oblivious Peter. Thanks to St. Martins Press, NetGalley and author Nora Murphy for this ARC. I’ve given my opinions freely and honestly. It’s due to be published on May 31, 2022. again, there was just a lot of family drama that at times it kinda veers away from the romance which is a little annoying since, because of telling > showing and a bunch of inner monologue, i didn't feel any satisfaction towards the sexual tension and chemistry sometims. the romance felt like breadcrumbs or a side plot. In 1989 she became acting literary editor at the New Statesman, before moving to the Observer, where she was deputy literary editor for five years, and then a feature writer and executive editor. If you like a storyline to be tied up neatly at the end, then this may not suit. Me? I loved it and still can't stop thinking about it. they both want his trust fund so they're trying to sabotage his marriage by talking shit about Dane and Vienna, fake cheating pictures, telling Vienna's foster parents Dane might not love her because he just wanted to marry her for his trust fund, etc.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and Ne

First of all Vienna and I could be friends irl. She was kind (in not a pushy or too sweet way) I really liked her sens of humour and she handled Dane and his grumpiness plus enormous ego pretty well. I also liked her relationship with her biological father and the fact that his personnage wasn’t painted in a devilish way ‘cause of his mental health issues, this part was refreshing. Kathy has seemingly been happily married to Peter, but their relationship has grown routine. She cannot help but wonder what would happen if she ever got together with her high school sweetheart, Tom, whom she had never slept with. I especially admired how she’d just head-on bulldoze anything that was thrown at her way and that she refused to sugarcoat shit! 👏🏻 She wasn’t easily pushed around either and was super direct but not in an irritating kind of way. And for those reasons,

Life is going pretty well for Dr. Jude Winter. She has a rewarding job in the geriatric division of a London hospital and is looking forward to her wedding to fiancé Matt in two weeks time.
