About this deal

Finally, since I know some of you will ask, the following are most definitely *not* compatible. And the reasons are simple: They don’t have the storage, or they don’t have the processing power to handle maps. The ship has sailed on all of these (read: they’re definitely not getting map support), Music Player 2.0: Updates to a faster, one-touch control interface and moves some controls to the option menu.

Do you have losslessly compressed, high-definition audio files in the relatively common .FLAC format? Well, you can’t use those either. #OhDear. But you can use all of these; mp3, m4a, aac, adts, wav, m3u, m3u8, wpl, zpl and pls. That’s not too bad I suppose. You can play a pre-loaded playlist but you can’t create one on the watch or in Garmin Express. Indeed that was fairly typical of the whole run, although the Suunto 9 (blue) probably was a little worse elsewhere. As shown here Garmin 935 (Yellow) – Suunto 9 (Blue) – Fenix 5S Plus (Red) The main feature sets in the Fenix 5S Plus cover running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, golf and general outdoors/hiking. Some of the individual features work across sports. Sports Features Covering All Sports Planning & Preparation FeaturesDual Grid – Displays your current location in your configured coordinate grid in addition to latitude/longitude

The specialist features in the Fenix 5S Plus are what set it apart from the earlier Fenix 5 series Galileo Effectively POIs of many types are overlain onto the map. So you can do very much the same sort of thing on the 5S Plus as you can on your Satnav eg you can navigate to the nearest Bank should you so desire. I would say that the POI-based navigation works well and one of the first things you might do is add a custom POI as your ‘home’ or your hotel in a new city. It’s a multisport watch that will satisfy the needs of even the most ardent athletes, but it also has the looks and smart features required to make it something you’ll want to wear all the time, even if it’s not a true smartwatch like the Apple Watch. Garmin Fenix 5 Plus review: Price and competitionThen select that file and then select ‘Copy’. Now simply paste that into the ‘Garmin’ folder on your watch. Do NOT copy/paste the entire .ZIP file, you need the file inside the zip file (like you see above). It’s called gmapsupp.img and needs to go into the Garmin folder on your device.

Fixed an issue where the device could intermittently stop recording distance during a swim activity. Fitness: Distance, time, pace, laps, swim stroke identification, VO2 max, recovery advisor, virtual pacer, calories, goal alertsFor a lot of people, Garmin's tech is probably going to be good enough, although with HIIT training the sensor still falters a bit in climbs and recoveries, trailing behind the chest strap. It's something we see a lot across the board, and despite all the improvements Garmin has made, its optical tech still has a way to go. For ME PERSONALLY, I find Garmin’s ELEVATE and Polar’s 6-LED sensors give ME the best results on the wrist. But neither are good enough for my precise HR-recording needs; I use HR to determine my training load. So I always either rely on a chest strap ( HRM-TRI) or, occasionally, an optical sensor on an armband ( Wahoo, Polar, Scosche/Valencell). Similarly, for all its flaws, heart-rate based training is used by a VERY LARGE number of people across many sports. I use heart rate a lot and I am mostly aware of all its accuracies. However one thing I’m mildly concerned about is that many people are probably using optical heart rate and blindly assuming that it’s always correct. It isn’t. What's not immediately noticeable is the increase in screen size. Garmin has bumped up the display by 20% to make way for those new maps. The larger screen doesn't make a significant difference most of the time, but when you do want to view maps on the watch you've got more space to play with.
